Yes like Unicorns
Kind of a false statement; you're implying sub tanks can still found lol. You may have better luck finding a unicorn.

It takes a minute or so to change it's mind. The gauge is dampened.

I have this (see above link). It is amazing. Doesn't hang any lower than my tow hitch. Watching my gas gauge rise, during fuel transfer, as I'm driving cause a slight smile...just skip right past the gas station.

I'm sure I'll post an install thread (thanks OTRAMM) one day...

Another note, this is a FULL KIT! No additional parts need to be sourced!!!

Having a factory sub tank before I would spend the (IMO) stupid money on a factory sub I would have one built and make it a little larger only because there is tons of available unused room. This is what I was planning on before I found my factory sub tank for $45:flipoff2:
Factory Auxiliary Sub Tank Install

As for debate on what a sub tank will hold like @cDan said Im special:D I was not out of gas when I filled both tanks below but the low fuel light was on:worms:Waiting till I crossed the CA line into AZ saved me $40+ just on this gas stop below alone.:flipoff2: My tank is now paid for with cumulative fuel savings.

You had at least what was left in the fuel lines.....:)

All in good fun in any event.

Also, consider that other fuel tanks of various sizes from different vehicles can be made to fit. For fuel transfer, an additional hose fitting on the filler neck will allow you to pump fuel from the aux tank into the fill neck of the main tank.

I'm running a 75L tank for an aux tank. Extra 20L over the 'stock' one.

Auxiliary fuel tank in my LX450

Of course, this would limit your space for a water tank.

Cheers.

Indeed. What is the capacity on that one?

Nice.

How do you fill it? Dual filler neck?

Yeah, I made my own--basically just welded a "Y" to the factory filler neck, down below where it bends to horizontal. The way I did it makes sure the main tank fills first, then the auxiliary tank, then the pump finally kicks off. :) No selector for which tank fills in my case. Also since my "Y" is horizontal, it allows the aux tank to drain into the main tank somewhat, during normal driving. So my first 1/4 tank also uses about 1/4 of the fuel in the aux tank. If I'm driving all city, with lots of turns (especially roundabouts) it will use nearly 1/2 the fuel in the aux, before the main tank gauge starts dropping at it's normal rate.

They do not ship to America

^maybe we could convince them :)

I went through the process of getting an importer's license. I justified the cost with a comparison against MetalTech's Aux tank option. I believe the cost on their site was for tank only and other bits still needed to be source. Exchange Rate plus Import fees from Australia proved to be a more cost effective acquisition.

In summation, yes they do "ship" to the USA, however you need to an importers license and file the proper papers on both ends of the world.

TOTALLY WORTH THE HASSLE...in my opinion.

I have the same tank as @86tuning in mine--it's from a '87-94 (or maybe '95) S10 Blazer. It fits nicely between my 4x4Labs bumper and the factory crossmember.

It does hang down below the frame a bit, I'm assuming more than the Toyota tank would.

Nice! When I get that bumper, I know the fuel tank will fit fine. The bumper has been on my "want, but unwilling to pay for" list for years. If I lived in the USA I would have pulled the pin on getting one years and years ago. But getting it into Canada is a bit more hassle than I'm willing to do at this point. But I can still dream!

As for hanging down, it hangs down less than the spare does. I haven't hit mine yet, but I don't play in the rocks anymore like I used to.
