I think the disclaimer on the Birfield.com web page re: the color charts being incomplete and best guesstamites should not be overlooked. It was one of the first places I looked to find out info about my color code...along with CCOT and JTO and color library that appears on the ID Plate in the photo. A case of beer is yours if you can find 267 on Birfield.com. I would check several sources...and for those of us with new enough pigs, typically the ID Plate doesn't lie...you just have to do a little more digging to find out that (as in my case) 267 is a two tone code for the 854 and 012 (IIRC)....or was it 031 for the white or was the 031 the code for the top on the 40.....ahh it's written down someplace....

Its about the only colour they were imported into Australia in.
It is very rare to see a 55 with original paint not being that brown colour.

Color code hijack

Toddslater,
I'd love to know where you found that info on code 267. I just picked up my '78 Piggy and all indication it should be a red and white combination. The plate code is 275 but I haven't found that anywere yet and I've worn out the search button.

I'd love for my assumption to be wrong and the real colors to be Pumpkin and white. Those are a really nice combination.

Hijack off.

Out of curiosity...Anyone know what the code is for the AU brown FJ55's? Did Toyota ever ship any that color to the U.S.?

Your indications are correct Code 275 is the two tone code for 031 white and 309 freeborn red.

Here is the link to look up paint codes in BASF

https://www.basfrefinish.com/cgi-bi...uestLogin&menuName=HUB_MENU&directAction=Home

Click on formula look up
Type in 275 and toyota in the appropriate boxes and then click on Go. It should come up, then click on the 2 tone hyper link and it will show you the codes and on the right will be hyper links to the fomulas for the various paint lines carried by BASF.

That's huge.

Much thanks Todd!!!!!!!!
That's a key link to unlocking all of the two-tone Piggy colors.
This ought to go into the FJ55 FAQ section. Solid work. :bounce:

pumpkin

Here is the exact color match to the pumpkin formula on the CCOT site. Very different than Pollux orange.....thisw is more reddish. Much better than Pollux IMO. I've owned trucks in both colors

That's it. Good to know where the formula is and what it looks like.

Is this the same color, I just missed buying this truck when I was looking for a 55.

Lou

That is the color I'm shooting for.

This will be my color. Matches my 40. This July, I start working on it.

OinkOinker That Australian baby s*** brown colour with white is Olive (653) and cygnus (012) colour 254 on the plate. Havent confirmed the Cygnus quite yet. Also found 4 colours in that paint code. Cicilian green, Olive green, Bronze Olive and another all with different paint numbers.
Still trying to track down the darkest one.
Update:
Looks like the White listed with 254 is 033 not 012 (PPG Australia), strange as it also says it did not come out till 1988??
Mick
Update:
Nope rang again and got some one half usefull and he said definently 012 for the white, the 033 is listed as an alternative.
And Dupont Australia said definently 012 and 653 olive is the only paint listed for 2 tone 254.
