Initial quality out of the box seemed good. I don't consider made in brazil a synonym of made in mexico, I've lived in brazil and know they take their toyotas very seriously. Regardess I will be traveling with my stock hubs just incase.

So far I've noticed a 2-3 mpg increase in economy by switching from 4x4 to 4x2. Plus the rig has a fun torque over feel off of the line.

thats huge for a rig that averages around these numbers (11-14mpg) best case scenario thats an extra 30 ish miles per tank!

So I finally got so sick and tired of the previous owners attempt at a rear storage solution that I decided to build my new box.

The plan is to have a fold out panel that will lay flat over the refrigerator and rear seat so it ended up being a tall box. I moved the subwoofer inboard to its own compartment which will become my rear power distribution hub (Solar controller, 3rd battery, fuse panel, relays, USB charging ports, remote door lock switch etc.)

I've decided not to install the drawers until after a bit of use. I wanted to try it out and see how I wan the drawers set up before building them.

And apparently Photobucket wants to go out of business! No thank you I will not Pay $400/year for your services, hell I can have my own online 1TB server at that cost. What a shame.

@nukegoat No I can ask my buddy.

So some of you may know that I volunteer as a dispatcher for Colorado 4x4 Rescue & Recovery. CO4x4RnR is a statewide 501(c)3 non-profit that provides free extraction to stuck, broke, wrecked vehicles and individuals on forest service roads / off road trails. Individuals call our hotline directly or in many cases various counties 911 dispatchers will page us directly. Over the last several years our professionalism and structured approach has been noted by many jurisdictions including the Forest Service to the point where we have become the go to resource for them.

The main reason we do this is to lighten the load on the emergency services and forest services resources which ultimately helps keep our trails open.

Anyway, the organization is launching a hand picked Specialized Unit and has asked me to be a part of it. I can't disclose additional info at this time because I don't want to spill the beans. The BoD is planning on rolling this out at our quarterly meeting this Saturday in Denver. What I can say is that I have been busy adjusting my gear and rig to better suit the roll they've assigned me. Don't worry I'll update you all after they've made the announcement, until then you'll just have to speculate.

This last week I built a portable "Rapid Deployment Repeater" for HAM & APRS. (Still waiting on my duplex controller and need to connect the solar)

Thanks @Qball If I do Rubi this year I will most definitely be trailering it there. I'm looking at fuel cost and don't know if Rubi is feasible this year, might have to settle for Moab and mt. Blanca this year.

35's is as big as I want to go. So you are suggesting 4.88's? I figure what I lack in wheel size I will make up for with armor so I can drag myself over obstacles if needed.

Whats the reason for changing the O2 sensor?

I am in Indiana. The axles going on my truck now came off of trail truck. They are 5.29's with 35's. I got to enjoy the truck a little before it got torn down and it was a quick mover. RPM's are higher but the power is great. The truck was a Colorado truck and was built with the 5.29's. It was a trail truck mostly and was trailered everywhere. I think you would be sorry going 35's and keeping stock gears at alitiude. From what I read its a matter of opinion. FWIW, my other truck has stock gears and 33's. I think I would be not liking life if I put the 35's on there. At thats at 700 above sea level.

I hear ya @Josey1972. But I've been on stock gears with 35's at 5000-7000+ ft above sea level. It has made me a slower more relaxed driver. Regardless I did snag a craigslist score of some 4.88's for $200

I'm sure it does make you more relaxed. That's for sure!

So I've done some more work to my box. Cut the access door to the electrical hub and I placed a rubber mat under the whole box and anchored it to the floor.

This thread hurts my brain. Just when I thought I knew what I wanted to do with my rig I decided to spend an hour reading 18 pages of your build..... now I need some whiskey.

Smokin, what trailer is that you're puling? Also looking forward to seeing the finished product of the rear storage/box, looks like what I'm going for.

Thanks @mervo its been a fun ride... expensive but fun.

The trailer is a custom build by my buddy who owns mountain vista fabrication. He's a big Jeep guy but he built the trailer from scratch and my 3link

Spotted @mervo on a run up to a jobsite today. I'm sure he was wondering who the crazy idiot in the prius was... yup that was me.

YES!!!!!

The thought actually ran through my head that it might be you!

I was thinking to myself, "That's gotta be a Land Cruiser guy, who else would give a nod to me that I don't know? It's gotta be one of @JohnnyOshow22 buddies. I wonder if it's smokingrocks?"

To damn funny.
