hey Steve..........you can't sell the piggy; you would be "Ruint"...the one over here outside Bham , is still there; the offer is on if you wanna come here spend a weekend and carve her up....the axles are gone as is the engine and tranny but body parts remain and seem to be in decent shape!; have a spare room BUT also have 4 little ones!

Lou

Thanks Heather and Lou - I figure to sell the Pig I need to fix the rear body mounts, fix the engine, finish stripping the headliner insulation off and paint the tailgate and THEN I would have everything fixed to the point where I would want to keep the sucker!

So - I only got about an hour in today between the rain showers. I was able to get the winch and front bumper off to make way for the motor, tcase and tranny pull on Wednesday. I still need to drain the t-case and tranny which I will do tomorrow after work. Its already raining again so I'm about done for the day. I did carve some of the rust out of the rear body mount areas - this area is a MESS. I'm not totally sure how I am going to fab up ANY kind of replacement body mount b/c this is by FAR the worst of the rust on my entire Pig - imagine that! I thought about a bob but that would be more work in the end w/ moving the fuel tank, dealing with resealing up the back somehow, dealing with tail lights, bumper, etc etc etc.

Oh - and I did my taxes today. Getting a tad back (not much) so I wonder if the :princess: is going to let me spend any on the Cruisers? I don't need much for the Pig except for a replacement 2F and some time.

And thanks for the offer Lou. I don't think I need many body parts. Let me take another look at my Piggie to make sure. I need a 2F most of all. I've found a few but would really like to find one reasonably close - and running if at all possible. I have a few feelers out...also need some trail spares if anyone runs across some - drive shafts, birfs, front axles, etc. I plan on the Piggie being wheeled ALOT harder once she gets back together. I've got the FJC for the easier runs when the :princess: wants to tag along.

Thanks for the link Pablo - I'm checking it out. Also found a 2F locally but price is a bit steep. Might have one up for grabs about 3 hours away - but from what I've found in the past few weeks it might just be better to pull my 2F, fix it, then drop it back in and not deal with buying another.....argh...

Found a combo 2F, tranny and tcase w/ rear end for a good price a few hours away. Awaiting to hear more.

Just drained my tcase and tranny and pulled both driveshafts - trying to get all the prep out of the way to pull the 2F, tranny and tcase Wednesday. Also going to rebuild e-brake, replace rear main, and replace speedo housing w/ Mudrak part while everything is out. Did find a few rust areas I need to replace while I was under the Piggie - I already knew about these but conveniently forgot. :D

The :princess: just got home so my wrenching is done for the day.

Steve, have you posted up on Georgia Cruisers site? For some reason I thought one of our members had an engine the mentioned at a meeting. It might be worth it since we're close and you are going to have to come here to meet the new baby soon.

Thanks Heather - I'll post up. I decided today that I was definitely selling my Pig - but the wife talked me out of it.

I got about another hour in this afternoon. I tore out the passenger rear body mount and started a template to fab up a replacement.

Sourced a 2F donor - a fellow cruiser-head is checking it out for me today. I started fabbing up a replacement rear passenger body-mount out of some plate and 16 ga. Its gonna be BOOTY-FAB but you gotta work with what cha got and I don't have much good metal to weld to. There are going to be some funky reinforcements welded in at all angles and it won't win any prizes but it should get the job done - or at least get the job done better than what I have now!

Hacked a bit more at the rear passenger body mount.

Pic 1 is what I saw when I pulled back some of the body - ouch.
Pic 2 is after a little clean up.

I have a piece of plate drilled for a grade 8 bolt - I will weld this in at least three places to the body with two triangular supports/braces. This is gonna be fun.

Steve I'd measure the dimensions of the sill and see if you couldn't just cu the whole thing out and weld a some square or retangle tube in there.

I'm sure I could. Only the corners are bad - the middle portion is pretty solid. I've got some 2x2 inch 1/8 inch tube that I'll do some test fits with tonight or tomorrow. It might be easier to just weld in the tube instead of trying to fab up the corners and body mounts - the body mounts w/ the tube would be a lot stronger...

2F comes out today. I'm picking up a donor 2F in a couple of weeks. That should give me time to clean up my engine bay, rebuild my e-brake, replace my speedo housing and get a few other little things prepped to drop in the new 2F. I will have to desmog the new 2F - anyone have any good links to desmog 'how-to's?'
