I have that same leak and just haven't found the motivation to fix it either. Gald to know it not and easy job

I still have a vibration. This time it’s tires.

Or I thought it was....,,

Took the tires for a road force balance at 49Tire and got them perfect but while doing they we realized my OEM acorn nuts are not seating the Smooth Vintique wheels properly.

I called Summit and they told me what I needed so that is on order.

Wheels are 14mm hole with 12mm studs. Common but you need the proper lug nuts to make them self center

air leak around the steering column you just spent 4 hours on

An hour but yeah. It was a pain in my ass. My neck is sore today from being under there...

ITs not a job for big old fat men like me

@wngrog , I need to replace my steering column shaft seal also. Does your steering shaft move significantly (1/4"+) if you push on the rag joint under the dash? Or do I have something else broken? Thanks!

Andrew

That’s it. It’s only supported by the rubber. That’s why the rubber dies.

Both mirrors on this truck are in bad shape. I picked up a set of aftermarket mirrors and was planning on having them painted body color like US 80s do......

That said.....the black looks pretty good.

The only thing I’d worry about is the plastic fading.

What was wrong with the chrome mirrors? I thought they looked pretty good from what I can see in the pics.

Personally, I think the chrome mirrors were one of the most unique and appealing aspects of the GCC models. The US got them for one year, on one color 80. In 1996, some black 80s came with the chrome mirrors and door handles.

Point being, you could find some in a junkyard if you wanted chrome. I'd hate to see the "livery" of that vehicle altered, if thats the right use of the term. But Im a true purist, and of course, its not my truck.

The interiors were not working on one. I kept them. You want them?

I don’t remember who, maybe @LandCruiserPhil , redid their’s with a bearing of sorts years back. It was kinda slick.

I feel like I’ve done as good as possible keeping this one looking GCC. Some stuff I can’t deal with and dicking with chrome mirrors, the running boards or the roof rack are in that list. Thanks for the info though. I do agree they are cool.

Long way from there to here.

180 hours and $23,000 on top of purchase. I think it’s good for a while

I hear you. Well, if you don't want them Ill take them! My drivers side mirror is flopping around, currently stable thanks to a popsicle stick, but the guts work, so I can swap the guts into yours and go chrome! And my passenger side front door handle is broken off and the only ones I can find to replace them with are chrome. So then I can get 4 new chrome handles and your mirrors and add a little GCC flair to "Popsicle"!

I have a proposition for you. Send me your chrome mirrors and Ill buy you those Chinese chrome mirror caps and we can all be happy! Its a win-win!

I am waiting to see what happens on lug nuts. Factory ones appear to be conical seat as well. 95 up went to the shank style. Please keep us posted.

I prefer acorn style, They are fatter on the bottom. and round rather than tapper to the the cone seat area. This way they do not dig into the wheels like the stock ones do. I see that a lot.

I think that is what I ordered or did I? I really don’t know. I consulted Summit and even though they did not sell them they told me to order what I ordered.
