Great work Matt! Great !

tech skills are through the roof

This rig is why I'll never, ever buy another car from Bring a Trailer......
I’m feeling your pain.
Been wondering if there’s a BaT thread around here.
After about 45 days I finally got a gx470 delivered. It’s ok but not exactly what they represented.
FedEx tracking says the title is coming today, 56 days after the auction.

I’ve done a ton of business with Purple wave and Ritchie Brothers auctions, all good. But BaT has none of those safeties for the buyer in place.

It looks like the 43 is going to be really nice when it’s finished though!!

I’ve bought and sold 4-5 or so vehicles with BAT. Title comes within 2-3 days via overnight mail or FedEx once the funds have been received. As a buyer or seller, calls are arranged for shipping or pickup. My shipper is gold and she has been terrific… even with mid shipment delivery queries. YET, I do know of a few F’ed up deals and that part ruins a fairly good process.

My friend @Chamba results were a shock for a variety of reasons. He’s plowing thru a myriad of crap. It’s gonna be great when done. I kinda feel BAT being the middleman gets caught in that role of middleman, but then again, I’ve never been in a dispute so remain completely in the dark on the elements of resolution for a bad deal. Maybe those details are between buyer and seller?

I just post on Mud, this all the handiwork of my skilled staff :)

Column reassembled, battery support clearanced for column, also cleaned up and rewelded the motor mounts to the frame.

@Ditcherman none. No protection at all through BaT. Caveat emptor. And it's so easy to mislead, even with 375 photos.

That's not to say there aren't good people on BaT; in fact, most are. But it lends itself really well to those wishing to mislead, and therefore requires an abundance of caution.

I won’t say “never” but it will be a fellow enthusiast, not a flipper.

Purple Wave and Ritchie Brothers act as the bank, holding things in escrow or something like that until both parties are satisfied. Buyer pays 5-10% fee.
BaT seller pays, and they don’t want to hear from me. Totally on sellers side. The industrial auctions check back with me.

I would say that BaT is on BaTs side- they care about securing the listing at a low/no reserve and the buyers fees, nothing more.

Master cylinders and brake booster replaced, most of the fuel lines and brake lines are stripped out and starting the complete replumb. All stainless which is the only material we use use here for fluid tubing. No copper nickel which is half rate garbage in my opinion.

Fender and bib also trimmed for steering box.

Our tech who is running the show on this project is planning for motor installation as soon as he finishes the brake line plumbing across the firewall. Hopefully Monday.

Details matter..
Parking brake cable that was in the car was a cheap aftermarket and stretched pretty short. Also did not fit in the frame bracket which was also smashed, or the axle tab which was different.

Going to try and fix the frame bracket (or replace with one from a 60/80 donor chassis).
Unfortunately no way to get hands on an actual 82-84 FJ43R handbrake cable.
Fortunately had a new OE FZJ73 cable on hand, fits the chassis bracket perfect, will have to cut and replace the tab on axle though. Fortunately already laser those for our hand brake conversion kits.

Also going to attempt to fab a retainer at the fuel tank.

I have some. Equivalent to 46410-60150 for 80-82s. Not sure the differences.
