Replacement 2F getting ready for some fresh paint before install.
And shift gate bracket and AC bracket in from laser.

Another note, I was crawling under the car to look at something and noticed it doesn’t actually have a 3F bellhousing like I thought, just a 3F lower cover jammed onto a 2F bellhousing. So that is slightly reassuring.

Will that lower cover I gave you work?
That explains why it was so wonky..... I thought they just used it as a feed bowl for the goats.

By the way, the hoses on my engine are all new Toyota hoses, so hopefully they'll mostly swap over without problems.

Can’t remember offhand if you have the AC-version lower hose/pipe or not, if not we’ll be changing the lower hoses/pipe to the AC version to accommodate 2F compressor.

on that note, since we are installing an OEM style AC compressor the battery will have to move, fortunately we had an OEM AC 40 at the shop to take measurements off of and reverse engineer the AC-version battery support.

The A/C hose and metal tube are both in that box of parts I left with the rig.

That battery tray will look great!

Quick compression check on the old 2F before removal. Most likely blown head gasket. Who needs a core long block?
Replacement about ready.. fresh and clean low mileage runner.
Now that this is ready it’s time to tear apart the 43 for real.
Had another meeting this morning with our service manager Aidan and our technician who is leading on this project to go over everything one more time before we really hammer down on this. Lots of moving parts, small changes that all effect each other, lots of small custom work, and order of operations of all matter

It’s pretty easy to know all in your head what needs to happen but have a team of guys working on it together (along with 10 others at a time) takes a lot of cohesive planning

@Chamba I feel this knife down deep…damn man. One thing though, you could travel around the globe when it’s done just on Matt’s reputation

@knuckle47 is been a tough pill to swallow but with enough IPA anything will go down. Speaking as a guy who's always done everything himself though, it is strangely satisfying to be working in California while a guy you trust is turning wrenches on your rig.....
@cruisermatt yup. That's what I thought. Pakistani skill, honesty and know-how right there baby. Looking forward to finally driving this rig. The 2F looks great! Thanks Matt/Aiden.
You should be meeting @GK81 shortly. His rig will benefit greatly from a visit to your spa.

This should be a great engine after rebuild for someone. These non-US engines are great: no emissions rail holes in the head. This one is from '86 I believe. Matt will rebuild this baby perfectly for the next guy.

@Chamba I was there at my current situation…young enough to be active, old enough to know I can’t even lift a tire unto the wheel studs. That’s why my Land Cruiser went out to Jesse @Jdc1 out in Ohio for the similar types of spa treatment and it came back like a racehorse. There are times I drive it around town as if it was a sports car. It just is so wonderful to know you have the right person doing the job and inspiring confidence beyond even a Toyota factory rebuild.

Cant’ wait to see it

Care package from Australia just arrived. Can't wait to get this on the Paki Pig when she gets home. Now to blast and paint! Thank you @matt tin

who wants this 2F before it goes up on the shelf and cost a lot more to get down?
Full disclosure, it dumped a gallon of water out of the oil pan drain

Steering box pedestal, center arm, and steering column removed. Last pic is what was underneath the center arm. Fully restored, right?

every single tapped hole in the frame is filled with sand/dirt and painted over. Bonus brake hose picture.

Yup. The centre arm/bell crank is a prime example of Pakistani restorations (the 'rebuilt' engine being the other fine example): it was obviously ripped from the frame at some point. During the 'resto' they kinda welded part of it, then used rubber to cover the other side. Job done.

This is why we're doing the 105 steering for those wondering why.

This rig is why I'll never, ever buy another car from Bring a Trailer......

AC-version Battery support in from laser. Fits perfect. Going to clearance manually for RHD steering column. Obviously this completely occupies the same space as a original RHD steering box, so makes me curious what the OEM AC looks like on a RHD example. Never seen one that I can recall.
