Doing some things to the back end of the truck.

Few more details; running power to back of truck to a Blue Sea fuse panel. From that running fridge, camp lights, power ports, ect. Lights are Baja Designs, I am going to add more that are clip on and will be run off the power ports. I think I am going to add some more power ports, in particular up in front on the console-trans cover. All interior panels cleaned today, carpet too. Washed inside of the truck as well. Replaced the busted RHS wing window motor with a good 2nd hand one. Also installed a new weather stripping on the window on this side. Installed a couple power ports at the back of the truck in the interior panel. Also ordered an LED interior and back up light kit yesterday.

Driving around with the back end torn apart last week I noticed the LHS cargo window is leaking, not much but it leaks behind the panel, couldn't see it with the panel on. So today I ordered up a new weatherstripping for this side. My drivers door WS also shows a bit of wear so bought a new one of those as well. Going super slow on my wiring because, well, I am busy and dislike wiring a lot! Plus I am doing it right the first time so I never have to touch it again! It is coming along nicely but I have plenty more to do. Basically building wiring harnesses and running them behind everything, even the headliner.

Got late last week several power ports from Sierra Expeditions, x1 cig lighter style and x2 USB. As seen in the picture above I already mounted a USB and cig lighter port on the RHS at the back, I have mounted the same on the LHS. I am also mounting a USB port to the trans hump cover by the seat heater switches.

Full Pfran LED kit installed, love the back up lights the most!

Ordered up Front Runner drawers. Stoked on that! Making progress....

I,

Measure from the bottom of the drawer to your tailgate/carpet for me. It may be CLOSE...

I got no problem blocking up the drawers a touch to get more clearance.

Monstalining!

Spent 10hrs yesterday taping and sanding. It is all ready to go now for 2 coats of Monstaliner. I went with Pyroclastic and I just bought some silver to do some accenting. Pictures to come!

You're gonna like it. I'm a ML fan for sure!.. Esme will be ML'd next spring... JUNGLE LOVE!!!

Just be patient with the final roll as it will determine the texture.

Wow - looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

I'm getting ready to order some Monstaliner soon. Excited to see how the pyroclastic looks. I'm stuck between that or white. How many gallons did you use?

Alrighty, I am going to say I wish I had of gone with black. On the Monstaliner website the "pyroclast" looks pretty much like a dark gray and charcoal in color. It should be called "purpleclast"! Under most light it just has way to much purple in it for me. Under dark light conditions it does look dark grey but for the most part it is purple-grey. As soon as I started laying it down I knew what color it was because a buddy had this color on his entire FJ60 and I wasn't to fond of it on that Cruiser either. I will give it a week or two to grow on me and then if it hasn't I will just go over it all again with black. I have the light grey in route now for side strip accent and hood accent. I think I am going to do the grill in light grey as well. I do like how I have it on the truck in terms of my "lines".

I also did a couple little things while working on the Monstaliner. I installed the new OEM power antenna that I bought last July. I have also been having major clogging in my windshield washers so I dropped the tank and washed it out.

Well, I went and ripped my head unit out last night! I got an older single din Pioneer head unit around, it only has had about 6 months use, so I wanted to install it. Got a little confused cutting wires at the amp, opps! So last night I decided to buy some new stereo components.

I am keeping the Pioneer head unit, I don't need anything fancy and touch screens might fail me in the coming years when I am in the middle of nowhere so keeping my tried and true Pioneer single din head unit. But here is the rest I went with.

-Kenwood Excelon X700 5-channel amp
-Infinity REF075tx tweeters
-Infinity Kappa 6.5" 2-way Loudspeaker, x4
-New American International UPT900 Mounting kit, this is just a 2nd din storage bay, old school Cruiser style! ;)
-Beat-Sonic SLA-100FB mounting kit, for a clean stock look.
-JL Audio CP106LG-W3v3 mini sub for some bass. :)

I was really wanting to do a custom sub install to save space and I need every inch of space but a custom install could be a big can of worms and I don't have the time for that. I found the JL Audio sub and it is one compact unit and supposed to give some thump. The unit measures 14 1/4" w x 9 3/4" h x 6 1/2" d so it is pretty compact and I am not loosing much space.

Looking forward to having a decent stereo in the Cruiser! For a year I have been using my iPod in the truck via a tape deck adapter! I also haven't had a good stereo in one of my trucks since my Tacoma which I sold back in 2011.

Cheers

Stereo install continues.....

I got the Infinity Kappa speakers for the doors the other day so yesterday started in on installing them. Like Just about any install I have seen in a UZJ100 you have to hack and cut up the stock speaker mount and then modify it to accept the new speakers. That is exactly what I did and it turned out nicely it is just a bit of work.

I trashed the stock speaker, cut the plastic out of the center of the mount, removed the thick cardboard isolation, drilled new holes in the stock plastic mount and fitted the Kappas. I also snipped the stock wire connection off and removed the fitting from the plastic housing and than just ran the wires through the housing and hook up the speaker. I got two done yesterday and will do the other two today.

Cheers
