Bumping this old thread. I took a lot of pics on that last big trip. Didn’t post very many here it seems.
In Costa Rica next to a BJ42.
Only problem I had in 15,000 miles down to Panama and back was a seized rear caliper. It happened on the way home in Mexico north of Veracruz. I had the parts to fix it myself in the truck but figured another jack and another set of hands might help. This roadside mechanic was living in his van, for $20 he didn’t want me to help other than to fetch tools! He actually really did know what he was doing so I let him do most of the work and I just supervised and fetched tools.
I sold the truck while in Panama believe it or not. But I had to come back to the USA to deliver it. A weekend or two before the newer owner flew in to take the Cruiser I took it on one last wheeling trip here in Idaho.
So before I left the USA I stopped by the Valley Hybrids shop where Georg let me use their lift to finish up a few things in the build. Dominic also helped me install the Harrop Elockers.
Georg had got this Pinzgauer from me a few years earlier, it was cool to see it again, I have a lot of history with the truck.
We spent nearly six weeks living like this all over Baja, man I am needing another trip like this.
From there we went to Guanajuato in Mexico where we stayed for about a month. We did a lot of things out of Guanajuato like go kayaking at this lake with a sunken church. It was a great time spent in Guanajuato and it is a really awesome city.
From Guanajuato I headed down to El Salvador to pick up a friend who rode the rest of the way with me to Panama. I stopped off in Antigua, Guatemala because it’s a great city and I always enjoy stopping there.
I finally got to meet an internet buddy face to face in Nicaragua. We had been talking for years and it was really cool to finally meet him. He is a great guy and we have become good friends since.
I took a lot of video on the trip but never finished editing and getting nice for presentation.
Here is some footage from the village I lived in down in Panama. I have actually been here four times and lived here once for three month and two other times for a month each.
And here is some footage from Baja.
Here is a narrated video of me at one of our many remote camps in Baja. I have been to Baja four times, twice in Cruisers and twice in a Taco. Shortest trip being three weeks, I really need a trip down there soon!
