Congrats dude... They definitely are great and capable trucks! Hopefully you will find a buyer soon because I am sure that wasn't and easy purchase.
I'm actually not in much of a rush to sell the 60. Although my bank did essentially pull a "bait and switch" on me when I got approved for my loan due to an inexperienced bank worker messing up my paperwork, and thus I have more than double the interest rate I was told I would get.... needless to say, my Dad, (who helped me get the loan), was pissed and is planning to take his money elsewhere... after I go down there and have a "friendly talk" with the branch manager, of course. :bang:

...Anyway, I won't be able to show the 60 until the end of September after I get back from a few trips I've got planned. This new truck is about to get some SERIOUS miles put on it right out of the box. :grinpimp:

Well that sucks dude.. Yeah banks can be sketchy like that sometimes, whether they claim accidental or not. As with anything, money talks and b#$%(&@ walks. Always loved that when I would have one of our "new" loan officers try that with a home loan or something a LONG time ago when I worked at BofA.

Any plans for the 4Runner as far as mods? I was thinking seriously about a Runner also when i was looking. I think they are sick even with just little mods. Love the hood scoop on the sport

Well for now cash is pretty tight, so until I sell the 60 it is going to stay stock. Once I can afford to have some fun with it id like to put a small OME lift and some new tires on it. I also wouldn't mind getting one of those hardshell rooftop tents for it eventually.

Since the 4runner is going to be more setup for long trips, I want to keep it pretty mild.

dude, i know what you are going through with the sale. It sucks but there will be plenty of time to build cruisers later in life. I got a 04 Taco TRD Limited DC and it turned out to be a nice buy! They are expensive but it took me a month to find a good deal. its definitely not a neck breaker but still is cool.

I still miss WAMPA :(
@89fjlandcruiser Can you tell us more about those bumpers? That rig is sweet looking.

@joebattle1 if you are looking for a custom bumper talk to @reevesci if you haven't already. J is a great guy and always willing to help.

The 60 stays.

About a year ago I bought a 4Runner and was getting tired of fixing the 60 so I put it up for sale; not long after that it failed smog multiple times in a row so I decided to just let it sit until I could get to it. Then I quit my job and went to school full time and have rarely logged in to Mud' since.

Fast forward seven months; I'm running out of what I had saved up before quitting and considering selling the 60 "as-is", when I manage to find myself getting an invite to an open house at a company that lead to a few weeks of interviews and eventually a job offer at a startup in San Francisco. Starting Aug. 1st.

Nothing is going to happen with the 60 for a while while I finish off an english class this summer and a final math class in the fall, but my cruiser-fund is making a return and plans are being made... :steer:

YAAAASSSSSSS another local rig! WOOOT

good!

Finally got started on building some drawers and a sleeping platform.

Grabbed some pine planks from the homedepot with a vauge idea of what I was going to build, brought them home and did some brainstorming at the truck to get an idea for scale and how much room I have to work with, then sat down and drew this up. The idea is to build a slide out rear support section with a folding platform so that I can still use the back seats while its installed, without having to store the extension pieces elsewhere.

Its still just a rough draft and the dimensions are not finalized, but it should help me to build it pretty quick. (CAD professionals, please ignore the sloppyness!)

Progress...

Got the main box built, the drawers framed and the HDPE slides put in place. The next steps will be to fit the top cladding to the countours of the 60's cargo area and build the floors of the drawers (going to wait until I can use the table saw at work to cut the thin plywood for the drawer bottoms).

Once all that is done I'll get started on the slide out sleeping platform portion.

I'm still not sure how I'm going to secure this whole thing down to the floor though, so if anyone has any ideas about that I'd love to hear them.

Glad to see you working on it again.

Where did you source the HDPE and was it already those dimensions?

It was leftover stock at work from an old project they were working on before I got there. It was in 2.5" square bars and I ripped them down to 1/4" strips on a table saw.
