A lot accomplished today but not enough to fire her up. Still need to finish throttle cable (sniper side only). pos/neg to battery for sniper, vac lines to charcoal canister, waiting on 12v pos to fuel cut off solenoid connector from Coolerman. I have another option while waiting on this to arrive if I get to the point of firing her up tomorrow. Fuel lines I made are too long and a bit messy. Will do for now but I’ll have to come up with something better. Will post more photos tomorrow

Had a little time this morning before kiddos needed breakfast. Temp sensor adapter came in late yesterday.
It is installed and the temp sensor connected.
While tinkering around I realized I made a mistake or two. The Power Surge calls for a cheap auto parts store filter between the OEM fuel pump and the PS. And then a 10 micron filter between the PS and the sniper. I accidentally put a 10 micron filter between the fuel pump and PS and neglected to install one between PS and Sniper. Since I have another 10 micron from McRobb I’ll add It today
Mistake number 2…I secured the wire loom from the fuse/relay across the firewall and left out the yet to be extended yellow wire (goes to the coil). I’ll have to make a run to the auto parts store later to get some suitable wire and add it to the wire loom. Not sure why Holley doesn’t have the 5 wires all the same length. Would make things cleaner.
Got the 10 pin shored up. This will have to do until I get the pin removal tool and rubber plugs. Cut and shrink wrapped each wire, electrical tape, shrink wrapped the group, more tape.

Great progress! FYI, if you are not using the 'crank signal' (violet & green wire), you can remove them and plug at the connector as well.

@GA Architect ….thanks for the reminder, will do as soon as I have the tool…might go MSD one day…will see.

Made it through the punch list today.
CC lines complete.
Extended yellow wire to coil and secured it in the wire loom.
Shortened the fuel lines and added a glass filter to the FP-PS, added 10 micron filter to PS-sniper.
Finished throttle cable.
Rechecked all connections, vac lines, etc.
Began installing the air cleaner and the post that connects the sniper to the air cleaner stripped.
Talk about a major pucker factor…..had to go to the hardware store to get a 1/4 by 20 tap and die. Tapping the sniper scared the crap out of me. I knew I had one chance at this and thank God it worked. Attached the air cleaner.
Fired up the sniper….ran through wizard and discovered a fuel leak…the filter between PS and sniper. Checked all connections but it would not stop leaking. I think the filter is bad and I have a spare but unfortunately had to call it quits for the day.
So close..…..hope to get back on it Tuesday but likely will be next weekend..

No chance to continue the sniper project today however I did receive a few goodies in the mail.
I was not sure how my hardline from the fuel pump would work out ( seems to be working fine) so I bought this adapter which will go into the fuel pump and an AN6 120 degree bend. I’ll have this on hand if needed in the future. Coolerman made me this pink 12v switched wire that will connect the pink wire from sniper to the OEM harness where fuel cutoff solenoid plugs in. Pretty cool and inexpensive way to keep my wiring color coded. And finally the spare filter which I am hoping is my problem that will allow me to fire up the Iron Yak tomorrow.

Can you send me a picture of what you are going to plug that harness into that Coolerman made for you? Also, after reading your install looks like I need to do something with my 10 pin connector I didn’t use. Curious what you’ll end up doing and a parts list and pic would be awesome.

@JDNs78FJ40 ..Regarding the 10 pin…I have a terminal removal tool and some rubber plugs in route. You can see them referenced by @GA Architect in post number 8 here. Idiots Guide to Holley Sniper Install - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/idiots-guide-to-holley-sniper-install.1255081/. Remove pins, wires, Install plugs and cap the 10 pin. Sealed and water proof.
As for the pink wire and connector…first photo shows them connected to the carb, second photo shows them disconnected. The one on top in the second photo connects to the fuel cutoff solenoid and is 12v switched + and therefore a good place to supply power to the sniper utilizing the OEM harness. I didn’t want to hack into it so I reached out to coolerman to see if he would make it… It’s super easy for him.

I was able fix the leaky fuel filter. It is the type that can be taken apart and refreshed. While I had thread tape on the nipples I did not have thread tape where the filter comes apart.
Ran through the start up procedure. All sensors looked good with the exception of the TPS wide open which was at 78 percent . Had to tighten the throttle cable a bit.
Fired her up and it began idling at 2000 RPMs and went up to about 2300 RPMs at which point I shut it down.
Any ideas why this is happening ?

Dissassembled. Hope to finish cleaning tomorrow and get some POR 15 on the bad areas. And a coat of topcoat. I will reassemble with stainless hardware. I’m under the gun as it will be used as the back drop for our family Christmas photo this coming Sunday.

How did you clean up the stainless steel mounts for the rack? I was going to blast mine and have then clear zinced.

My stainless steel mounts for the rack were not quite tall enough so I ordered a new set from gamviti
I think I still have the confer mounts if you are would like them

Finally….Sniper is installed and the Iron Yak rides again. It felt good to drive her for the first time in over a month… Now it’s time to drive, let it learn and do some basic tuning.
I am really happy with the Redline products. The brackets are easy, the cable was intuitive ( despite my complaints earlier about not having instructions) and the sniper to air cleaner adapter is real nice.
The bilsteins have given the ride a noticeable difference. Thanks @85roktoy .
Thank you @wngrog , @GA Architect, @JDNs78FJ40 , @Steamer and others who helped out from a distance.

@Goldbug It runs great. I only drove about 3 miles yesterday at or under 40mph. I will put more miles on her today under different conditions. The feel of the pedal will take a little getting used to.
I will post more once I have a few hundred miles on her.

I have about 20 miles on the sniped Iron Yak. I got the throttle cable snugged up tight so the pedal now feels similar to before. There are a few minor adjustments I need to make along the way however I will say I am impressed. I ran her up to 67 miles per hour quite easily. Accelerated very well on an incline.
I am going to drive as much as I can over the next few weeks. Only problem is that I am a mere 6 miles from work one way. Gonna take some time to get those miles.

Glad it's running well for ya.
Keep in mind that if think you may have setup something incorrectly in the wizard or made some changes in tuning inadvertently, you can always start over and run the wizard again which will reset the defaults and begin the learn process all over again. I did it a bunch of times just experimenting and sometimes forgetting what the heck I messed with.

Great work! I like the install with the power surge and keeping the stock fuel pump. Makes it straightforward to switch back to the carb in the future if you wanted to.

Did you have to modify the gas pedal for this setup?
