but the only 870 I wanted turned out to be a used gun for $325.

What's wrong with a used 870 for 325 ??? :D

Well that's not just a regular 870!! That looks to be an 870P, right? Extended magazine, shortish barrel and rail up top.

Is that yours?

I was going to go buy this later today:

Called the shop and they're on backorder, so I found this and picked it up. I'll have it in hand later this week.

Skeet/target, home defense, maybe some hunting. We'll see where it takes me.

Skeet this should be fun! Parker let's take Johnny out skeet shooting start him out 100 rounds of ammo. That will leave his arm nice and bruised. :)

Meatball

I have sent an email off to Remington and I may be acquiring one of the repurposed M24 systems. If that happens then I will need to fund the purchase. I have just finished building a long range 600-900 yds AR-15 that will be available if there is any interest. I have the build sheet that includes everything I put in it and where I acquired it. I will also have a stock Remington 700 SPS (I think thats the acronym) for sale too. I imagine I will hear back from Remington in a couple of weeks but if anyone is interested in more info just send me a PM. I figure with XMAS coming up someone might want something for themselves. The AR is sub 1/2 MOA easy and the Remington 700 shoots sub MOA.

Your vote

This request will be a hoot on the heels of Chris posting up a 900 Yd AR-15 ....

I'm in the hunt for a .22 lever gun. In other words I want to cowboy up and be cheap about it .... not the gun, just the ammo.

In the running ....

Browning BL-22
Henry golden boy
Marlin 39A

What have a left out? What would be your vote, and why?

If someone here has one you would like to sell/trade please PM.

You've left out one obvious choice .... one I wish I had never sold

Winchester 94/22 or 9422 - a classic little rimfire lever gun

Ooh, thanks. In fact one I was thinking of trading for .22 lever is a Winchester 94 30-30.

Pictures and info on this Winchester 94 please. That's on my long list of desirables. And to make a 223 shoot 900 yards requires a very special bullet. 34 grains of accurate 2230 under a 77 grain jacketed hollow point. Should stay above sub sonic... Still a very hard shot.

900 yards is nice . I am only speaking for someone that spent many a day on the range perfecting a little further every time out. I got very good with the M-4 / M-14 / M-24 and a very nice Barrett. Even had my M-2 set up very well single shot with the same scope that is issue for the Barrett.

Would love to get either a 14/24 myself.

Don't know a whole lot. It's side eject so is post 1982. Good blue, good wood.

just ammo

First time out with the new AR, and I'm pretty happy with it.

1st pic is the target from 25 yards where I was sighting the gun in. Out of the box it was shooting a few inches low, so I walked it up a few clicks at a time on the sights.

2nd pic is after sighting in, I moved to a target at 50 yards. I could definitely tighten up my group a bit, but I'm pretty happy with it given it's the 1st time I've shot a rifle in about 10 years, and the 1st time ever with this particular gun. The one in the collar bone isn't mine. I think the guy next to me shot my target with his .308.

Went shooting at Deep River on Saturday with Ramon and Meatball. Holy cow was that fun!! Time to start going more often.

Allen, that second one is a pretty tight group. I'm sure it'll only get better with practice!

Are you using the 4 fundamentals of marksmanship ? Mostly the breathing.

Yes, I am breathing when shooting. :-)

I did try shooting at the end of an exhale. Is that what you mean? I'm still fairly new to shooting, but I'm working on it. I'd love to go shooting with ya sometime to pick up some pointers!

Johnny - Give me a shout next time. I'd love to go with you guys! Maybe I can learn something from you guys hitting 80-90% of the clays!

Will do buddy!

In all honesty, I hit 50%, then meatball and ramon were slightly behind me.
