New Combat Pistol
So I used the experience of this board and the opinion of several co-workers, and decided on the Sig P220 Elite Scorpion which is just a fancy sounding P220 in Desert Tan with hogue grips, beaver tail(and beaver tail is worth it no matter the cost

) night sights and more importantly the short reset trigger. The SRT seems to solve most peoples complaints on the long trigger pull so it became a must for my choice if I was going with a SIG.
The price tag on this puppy was 1124 plus tax which was the cheapest in my area but still quite a hefty sum for a 45 ACP considering what you can buy a Glock or Springfield Armory for. The quality of the build, the reputation, and the fact that it is all metal was enough to sway me into the Sig family.
I went with the 220 (.45) over the 226 (9mm) mostly because of the recommendation of those I know who have been in actual combat (some on this board and my Brothers), which I have never experienced but is the sole purpose of this gun purchase. Hopefully I will never see combat either but you never can tell these days.
I was really impressed with the Combat variant of this gun but it does not come with the SRT so it was out. If I lived near the SIG factory a Combat model with the SRT and a threaded barrel would have been the order of the day, but alas.
I brought it home, took it apart and cleaned it up. I was instantly impressed with the strength of the construction and the feel of the gun. Very different from the polymer pistols I am used to. Everything breaks down super easy and went back together no problem. Which is one of the major reason I went with this over a tricked out 1911, although the Colt Gold Cups were calling my name pretty hard.
Below are some pictures and I hope to get to the range this weekend. AAR to follow.
The wife's SIG mosquito was shot last weekend. We put around 100 rounds through it super fast. It stuck several times over those 100 rounds but the reviews prepared me for this and as soon as I can acquire some CCI minimag (The preferred food of the mosquito) I will update the report. Besides the jamming the gun was great. I was just shooting at a plinker so accuracy was not tested. It really is just a bridge gun to get my "new to weapons wife" into a 9mm. A coworker who also has a mosquito told me to swap out the spring with the lighter weight spring that came with it and it will shoot the federal and remington 22LR no problem. This has not been tested yet.
So any thoughts?
