I'm not sure what you mean by bigger here? It must not be talented. I guess you mean like big slow fatasses who will turn out to be bums because you aren't in the top 25 in recruiting.

If we are saying rivalry games are based at least partly on how much teams hate each other then CU v USuC is definitely the biggest rivalry for both teams. Neither of us hate another team more, even when we win 5 or 6 in a row I still hate USuC more than any other school and want to beat them more. Thankfully we have a Championship Game to go play in so I don't have to think about that miserable performance for a month.

I agree that as a S.Car game i hate Clemson, however its still much more important for us to beat Georgia than to beat Clemsux. The better we look against Tenn, Georgia and the rest of the SEC the better we look to possible recruits.

Clemson can make it as an average team in the ACC because there is really no one in the ACC to raise the bar. When you have Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Tenn and Florida all in your conference to compete for recruits, your sights really need to be aimed higher.

Why do you bring up recruit rankings bro? Last year we had a killer recruiting class, the best S.Car has every had IIRC. If you had read any of my previous posts you would see that they guys on recruiting are not going for big recruits this year in terms of QB, RB, or WR...those are the highly sought guys that bring your classes rankings up....we are going for linemen!!!! The big guys are not going to give you the 4-5 star player rankings.

This seasons class is the most highly anticipated class in years for the S.Car hopeful. We are hoping to finally solve some of our biggest problems, a weak O line and a D line that is not big enough to push around the lines of Bama, LSU and Florida. If we are going to be the best we've got to beat the best.

I do think they should try to go for a good RB and a couple good QB's just incase Garcia gets hurt and it's always good to be 3-4 deep at RB.

We don't need WR's because we are already 15 deep and sufficiently talented with the big guys as well as a great clutch player that we should start seeing next season.

This class will not have big rating because yes, they are going after those big hogs on the line that are not fast but are big enough to not get pushed around and hold their blocks.

The guys they are going for on the D line are the opposite, those guys are big and fast.

We are tied 2nd youngest team in NCAA, only losing 9 seniors this year, we have tons of talent in skilled positions, right now we just need the guy to win the battle at the line of scrimmage. Even though it would be great to get another top 15 recruiting class or even a top 5 recruiting class, all that depth and talent does nothing it you cant win the battle up front.

Construction Manager/Project Engineer.

"USC vs CU isn't a big deal at CU...I'll have some of what you are smoking." I was at Clemson two years as a student five more as home base when I worked overseas. USC was NOT a big deal, in fact more of a walkthrough than the homecoming game. At USC we talked about it for weeks prior. The Tiger Burn, posters everywhere, big deal. At Clemson, just something to get through while we prepared for the bowl game.

"USC wants back in the ACC...now that there is funny I don't care who you are." I didn't say they did. I said they wouldn't have the balls to consider it. After leaving they went into a nosedive they're only just recovering from.

"Yabba Daba Do let USC win?" There you go again, trying to put words in my mouth. I said "DS just let his guys play and see how it feels to lose, in case the Maryland shame has worn off." If fhey weren't up to it they lose, if they were they win. I still don't believe he put the time or the effort in coaching and prepping for that game as for some others because he didn't see it as a major challenge or goal. He was wrong both ways and I don't expect him to make that mistake again.

"Got tired of tobacco road shafting the Palmetto State schools. Dean Smith and that stupid 4 corners ****. NC State sitting on the ball all game long. Getting jobbed night in night out by ACC refs." Thank you. That's what I said, to wit "If you were around when they left the ACC you'd remember that it wasn't over football, it was because USC thought they were going to become a national basketball power and the ACC was holding them back."
I sat in the Carolina Field House several times and watched the four corners. Mucho frustration.
BTW my favorite story from that time is that Lew Alcindor wanted to come to USC but they wouldn't give him a scholarship. What a hoot. That's what happens when you have a school run by politicians in back rooms.

C'mon David, you've spent too much time with the pumpkins and rube juries. Don't get excited, come on back to the real world. This is 2009 bro not 1975.
I SAID that I'm glad USC football (and basketball) is coming around. Don't take it personal. Obviously being a Carolina man in tigerland has rubbed your skin a bit thin. I'm as interested in USC's success as Clemson. I'm just trying to be objective and look for truth.

Dohc you've said some good stuff. I'm going to look back over it after I finish watching some more hoops. Welcome to the party.

The big guys are not going to give you the 4-5 star player rankings.

There are dozens if not hundreds of 4 and 5 star lineman so if you think recruiting lineman can't bring up your ranking then you don't know s*** about recruiting or rankings. In fact you should probably look at your own rankings since your 3 highest rated players are all lineman. South Carolina Commit List for 2010 The problem is the rest of your commits are just average.

the QB's they are going after are average, what i'm excited about are the size of the highschool seniors they are pulling as OL.

They've also got a few commitments from some nice sized DL and a LB, hopefully after this season plays out and S.Car has finished with about the same record as Georgia and Tenn it will help us win over some more guys!!!

On thing can't be denied, S.Car has got a stock pile of talent on their roster already!!!

and again...your not going to get killer rankings unless your pulling the highest sought after WR, QB's or RB's in the nation.

A class full of linemen (we will loose 11 over the next 2 years to graduation) and line backers is not going to get you in that top rankings.

Besides, look how great ND's recruiting class was this past season and were supposed to be good enough for a NC team....now Weiss is probably out of a job. Just because they are good in HS doesn't mean they cut it in college ball 5 star or not. Take your 4-5 star rated players and keep them, i want 6ft + linemen that weigh 270+ right out of highschool and bench 400+. I don't care if they are slow or not, so long as they got arms like apes and hold their ground with 2 DL in their hands.

I want the kind of guys that will live the next 4 years between the mess hall and the weight room with an occasional break on Sat to play some football!!!

Those are the kind of guys we need to finish putting together this SEC championship team!!!!

Saw Blind Side tonight. For me it was very touching since my wife teaches High School kids just like Mike Oher everyday.

It was pretty funny seeing Lou Holtz, Brad Scott, etc. on the big screen. Nick Saban did a great job, and Fulmer looked like an idiot.

Everyone should check it out if you haven't seen it yet.

Great games yesterday. Tx was exposed for the poser team they are. Would love to see the pollsters knock them out of the big game for TCU, just to show how badly we need a playoff system.

Bama is the real deal... this season's championship game was played yesterday. GT - Clemson game was excellent (didn't care too much about the outcome) but I'm surprised that GT was able to win when it wasn't raining?

Oh did Clemson play yesterday?

I thought the season was over after the Carolina game.
GT . . . who's that? I thought they already played already played Georgia Tech this year.

Didn't like the outcome either but it was a heck of a game to watch. Spiller proved he is absolutely the most electrifying and versatile player in the country last night and that he deserves to be in New York. Sad thing is now were gonna get screwed cause of Bobby Bowden running his damn mouth and end up in Charlotte or somewhere crappy.

Yep, we should be going to the Gator bowl, but Bowden had to go ahead and announce his retirement now. You know it was planned all along for the FSU organization and the Gator Bowl committee.

Atleast we still get a decent bowl with the Music City Bowl. Still ALOT better than Carolina.

Mark it down: Kentucky wins AGAIN and it will not be pretty.

That's the Gay Music City Bowl. Make sure you get it correct. lol.

It's such BS and I'm so pissed off about it. Second best team in the league dropping to the 5th place game is unacceptable. The ACC needs to grow a pair and tell the Gator Bowl to take the runner up. People wonder why the ACC gets no respect in football part of it is winning but part of it is stuff like this. FSU is going to get embarassed out of the stadium they are so overmatched in that game. Clemson ran all through FSU and WVU will too.

Mark it down Clemson avenges the loss a couple years ago and Spiller has a HUGE game to end his career.

USC wins probably by a lot if they show up and play, UCONN would be the worst team in the SEC and will probably look pretty bad once the early excitement wears off and talent has to come through.

Tough one to lose after coming back like that. Saw some good stuff and some bad stuff in that game but I was really happy we didn't roll over and give up. Teams in previous years would have lost that game 42-10. Got a lot of tough games coming up hopefully they will learn from this one. If we play them again we will win the second time. It was obvious that if we played well we are the better team and have more then enough speed to negate the option.

Or give up more points and more yards and lose again.

We figured out how to beat them back in Sept, its real simple, don't spot them 21 points, play the whole damn game.

See above. This offense is not a one trick pony. I am not saying that it will never be stopped as we will lose games, but it is a nightmare for def. coord to prepare for. Even if you have seen it already in the same year.

Its true, we only gave up 9 points after the first quarter and scored 24. Show up for the whole damn game and play that way and we'll beat them. All you have to do is play your assignments to beat their stupid option.

Stupid Option is 3-0 against Dabo.

About GT: I played football in middle school. The first thing we learned was to run/defend the option. GT made a fool of CU in the first quarter and a half and again in the last half of the fourth quarter with the option. Nesbitt was done though by the end of the game. He kept his head on straight and his legs moving, which is why they won. But, he was definately ready for a nap. That's why I think CU can take 'em if they decide they want to play ball.

If it were only that easy...btw the triple option is only one play. We run many others as well.

They won by 3 points the first time why the hell would you thin they can win by 2 touchdowns now?

Defense/Spiller kept us from winning by 2 touchdowns, but we did widen the gap.

Clemson Lost to TCU and Maryland in the rain, beat Boston College and Wake in the rain. If GT was smart they would pray for rain because it will help limit Clemson's passing attack and also neutralizes Clemson's superior speed.
Didn't need the rain, although maybe if it did, we would have won by 2 touchdowns ;)

Clemson is a fun team to watch. I enjoy our rivalry and the exciting games that it produces. I hope that we get to play CU in the ACC champ again in the near future.

Good luck in the bowl game.

Smitty

Thanks Smitty. Same back. For the honor of the ACC such as it is. I always pull for a team that we lose to (well usually) anyway. So while I'm here good luck Cocks as well. OBC should be able to keep up the momentum if he can keep the team out of 5 Points for a month.

But re the ACCCG:

Our linebackers have been our weak spot on D all year. LBs on the level of the D line and 2ndary and we beat GT last Sat. Seems like most of our blitz pkgs have been CB and Safety blitzes and we couldn't do much with that and risk the breakaway.

GT kicker rose far above himself. Our kicking has been shaky at best all year, couldn't depend on it. That hurt too.

Zebras took away one TD on a bad no-call and gave GT a chance for another on a bogus pass interference call. That could have been some difference.

The best team won. Or maybe the most experienced coach-call it. They both played their best game of the season probably, although I didn't see the other GT games.

I gotta say digging up comments from the first game was lame though. We're both different teams now. Let's analyse and paralyse that why don't we?

Finally: Clemson is not automatically #2 in the ACC. The Coastal is better than the Atlantic this year. I'll not bother to throw names and numbers but VT and probably Miami on a good day would be a tough game for CU. Sure we beat the U, but didn't they beat GT?

That's all I got for now.

This just proves that the only bowl in the whole BCS that actually takes the teams record into acount is the Championship game. Every other bowl is just an exhibition. Like a pimp selling out it's whores. And this year Bowden is the prize whore in the line-up. Don't hate the Gator Bowl, hate the ACC chump that sold us out. The Gator bowl didn't give a rats ass about the ACC since it will be with the SEC/BIG 12 next year.

I don't expect anyone to reward CU after the last 2 games they played, however, VT, Miami, CU, and NC all should be in that game before FSU. I am just glad we didn't get bumped across the country like BC.

Bill,

I will certainly be pulling for Clemson over anyone they play besides GT. I would say that they are my 2nd favorite team in the conference.

As far as digging up comments, the only one from the first game was the very first comment. The rest were from the past 2 weeks regarding the ACCCG. I almost lost my respect for Clemson after September when, for the 2nd time in 2 years, I heard at work, at church, and on many forums how yet again Clemson is superior to GT and would have, should have, could have, won the game. As far as Richard's quote highlighted above, he did not state an opinon, but instead a black and white proclamation. I feel, that just like anyone else (see Tiger Woods), that he should be held accountable for the statement. That is all.

I am certainly not going to take any credit for GT being 3-0 vs. Dabo, or ACC champs, or losing to UGA, as I truly had nothing to do with any of it. I am a very happy fan though and hope that our coaches and team can win the Orange Bowl.

Oh believe me I do, I hate our conferences commissioner more than anything, hes a damn tarhole and the worst commissioner in the history of the league. Not only that but its quite obvious from decisions he's made in the past that he favors the tobacco road schools. When he came to Clemson to give us the divisional trophy someone should have kicked the s*** out of him.

He can take offense if he wants to it doesn't change the fact that the league is worse off then when the bum got here.
