I few companies make a diff skid that incorporates a pinion flange skid. I've seen them for FJ's and 4runners. I'll try and fund the site and see if they have them for 80's

yes it a specific guard for a 9" ford rear end.
the cheapest one i found was at barnes 4wd. $25 if i remember correctly.
