Wifey just looked up the 470 on the dealers website to see the pics cuz she was so excited about the new truck. Their "no haggle, lowest price" on the window sticker was $800 higher than the price that is listed online. I am insanely pissed off. I'll be there at noontime tomorrow in the sales managers office to "discuss" this price difference. I'll be scaring off some customers for sure. I hate getting screwed.

How are you getting screwed? You agreed to an acceptable price didn't you?

The dealer says they posted their lowest price on the window sticker. Then it's $800 cheaper online. You don't think having 2 prices on the exact same vehicle isn't at minimum shady if not fraud? I was told the lowest price was the sticker on the window and it isn't so I was lied to. They have a 3 day satisfaction guarantee and I'm not satisfied.

Next time I have some 80 parts, I'll sell you a rim for $200 and Nat a rim for $100. Not dishonest but sure would be pretty s***ty of me, wouldn't it? That would be screwing you out of $100 in my book.

I definitely have a different take on this. If I find that I've paid more for a product than somebody else I take ownership for not doing my home work or not negotiating the price down when I should have.

Now I definitely would talk to these guys about it and ask them to do the right thing and honor the web price that I missed.

From buying cars on Ebay my experience is that the web guys are a different sales staff than the on site ones. So that can add confusion and differences in pricing if that is the case.

I'd like to think they aren't out to screw unaware walk ins.

I do see your point but....

I took the people on their word that they posted the lowest price on the sticker. So either they outright lied to me or they are so disorganized the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. I'd like to think they aren't out to screw me either but don't post up "Smart, no haggle pricing" if there is more than one price with a significant difference between the numbers. The crux of the issue is that saying there is one price on all their advertising then having 2 prices is absolute slimy, used car dealer bull****.

MA gives you 3 days to return a car or cancel a deal. I can certainly bust some balls for 3 days. We'll likely buy it at the agreed upon price even if they don't wiggle at all. Either way I'm going to make sure my negative experience costs the dealer far more than $800 through telling others to steer clear of Herb Chambers Lexus.

It just sucks that it's Mother's Day and my wife is bummed out about her new car.

Sadly that makes up a majority of their customers. I seen to many people get screwed over by dealers. It's the people that do the research and shop around that get the best deals. Just look at the list of fees they add on to the price of the car.
John should go back and bust heads. They shouldn't get away with it.

I agree, we bought the wife's scion on Boch and I wouldn't buy there again. If they arnt trying to screw ya at the sales desk they are feeding a line of BS why they cant give ya a decent rate for the loan! They are all on commission and all trying to make a buck, the dealer always wins, its like vegas.

Sales manager apologized for the mixup. He asked me what he could do to bring back the warm-fuzzies...but that he wouldn't lower the price as they were at the rock bottom. He wanted to know anything else he could do so I listed off a bunch of things like half dozen free oil changes, free detailing after a year etc. He said no to everything. I say, "so you want to make me feel warm and fuzzy but you won't give anything to make that happen." He said "Right." At that point I knew what I was actually dealing with.

We did 2 weeks of research on many models and went to Inskip and a few other dealers to compare. We spent hours on NADA, Cars.com, Autrotrader.com, eBay etc. The main problem wasn't the price, it was the fact that they had 2 prices.

My wife wanted the car regardless so we ended up paying the original agreed amount. Overall we got a decent deal on it and we're very happy with the car itself.

The Herb Chambers Lexus dealer experience was far from fun and I can't say I'm ever going back. If it were just me buying the car, I would have walked.

The dealers are out to maximize their profits while you want to pay the lowest price. It's adversarial by nature and you should expect a fight to get what you want.

Educate yourselves on the vehicle you are buying and the loan rates and everything else. With today's access to the internet there really isn't any excuse not to be fully prepared when you walk through their door.

If you like the car and paid a fair price then there is nothing wrong with that.

Friends of ours breaks balls on ever purchase from cars to dish washers. I don't care what it is that they buy it's a problem for them, even the Honda CRX they got. I always chauked it up to Karma and their ball breaking.

I hear ya. I felt like a million bucks until I saw the lower price. Gonna focus on having a GX470 that will eventually be all mine down the road once she's done with it. Looking forward to that day

I would of called his bluff and said cancel the deal. I'm sure he would of done something then. They can't afford to lose a sale in this economy.

If it was going to be my car then I might have but with the wife and kid there plus the fact my wife LOVES the truck, I don't think her poker face would have held up.

No worries. Overall I'm happy at this point.

So I am out on Long Island this week for work and I'm standing in line at Dunkin Donuts waiting for them to get my order when I glance back and see a girl that looks familiar. I think its my wifes close friends that lives out in New York. She is really short and the face is spot on for this girl Beth but she is a little heavier than I thought but shes had one kid and I think he is currently pregnant again since last I saw her so a little heavier would make sense. She sees me looking and looks at me like she might know me. Well I grab my coffee and go talk to her. Ooops, wasn't her.

Cruiser Content: I haven't seen my Cruiser in almost a week.

Hoping to get some wrenching help this weekend from anyone who might be able to lend me a hand. Wifey and kid are gone thru Sunday afternoon. Anytime during the day on Saturday or on Sunday would be appreciated. PM me your phone number for info if you have some time. As many of you know I am not very skilled and would appreciate a hand and some direction

My neighbors are having a delayed Cinco de Mayo party on Saturday night which should be huge. Their son just got back from Afghanistan last week. Feel free to crash at my house if the tequila gets to be too much.

Anyway, any help this weekend would be vastly appreciated. Just trying to get the truck off-roadworthy for the FG. Gonna take some more work.

thanks!
