Sales manager apologized for the mixup. He asked me what he could do to bring back the warm-fuzzies...but that he wouldn't lower the price as they were at the rock bottom. He wanted to know anything else he could do so I listed off a bunch of things like half dozen free oil changes, free detailing after a year etc. He said no to everything. I say, "so you want to make me feel warm and fuzzy but you won't give anything to make that happen." He said "Right." At that point I knew what I was actually dealing with.
We did 2 weeks of research on many models and went to Inskip and a few other dealers to compare. We spent hours on NADA, Cars.com, Autrotrader.com, eBay etc. The main problem wasn't the price, it was the fact that they had 2 prices.
My wife wanted the car regardless so we ended up paying the original agreed amount. Overall we got a decent deal on it and we're very happy with the car itself.
The Herb Chambers Lexus dealer experience was far from fun and I can't say I'm ever going back. If it were just me buying the car, I would have walked.
