I saw that show as well. In the 40s defense it was just the wrong choice from the Land Cruiser line up for that task. It might have shined over any thing else in some parts but the trek as a whole was outside it's forte. But since it's the most recognizable Land Cruiser it was good for show ratings.

just watched that entire Bolivia special with Jack, what a hoot! Love that show. :) IU'll just say, in the Cruiser's defense, that the biggest breaksdowns were caused by the halfassed Bolivian modifications.

Yea, sprung it over and I bet no anti-wrap bar was used. Notice the MetalTech cage and stinger?

well, so much for my recharged battery... threw it in the truck and it still wouldn't start. it cranked but not enough. Indash volt gauge was on nearly the lowest point.

Guess I'll be taking it back for a replacement after all.

Happy New Year everyone!

Glad 2009 is over. Looking forward to getting the 55 out on the trails in 2010!!

My plans to go freelance full time are ramping up and moving ahead. Sara and I have set some goals and markers to make it happen and it's definitely progressing. It will probably be spring sometime at this rate.

Exciting and scary as hell but opportunity is knocking over and over and louder and louder and I need to sack up and take the leap.

Good for you Dave! You've got guts!

good for you, I have been wanting to do the same for years.

Well we took the dog to have a fatty mass removed from his arm pit on Thursday. Well the surgeon said it was an infiltrative lymphoma which wasbasically working its way between muscles and the surgeon had to dig it out. He is pretty sore and we need to try to keep him quite for the next 5-6 weeks. Not exactly an easy task for a lab. So I'm spending the weekend hanging out with my poor sad buddy.

It is scary. I've been interviewing and was told I was "too independent." This is apparently HR code for a person who owned a business and was looking for a regular job. Everyone I interviewed with seemed miserable anyway. This has basically pushed me into broker/consulting land permanently, like it or not. Luckily, it's been working out great so far and I'm very glad I didn't get any of those jobs!

Take the leap and don't look back. Otherwise you'll be living with a "what if" for a long time. Good luck!!

get Logan on the bottle, you can always use another drinking buddy.

I can already hear the phone call with the Vet "Hey Doc. Is the dog able to drink on the pain meds? I gave him a beer and he's acting really strange. It normally takes two or three before he starts walkin funny."

For those concerned, no I don't give the dog beer. He's more of a tequila fan. :hillbilly:

Old days

Was looking around at Expedition Portal (at 80's) and found these,
can see more at post 127. Some are from the 2001 FG.

Dieselcruiserhead took those, me and wally.

Back when my truck moved under its own power. :(

We bought the 83 with the glass bed in the background to sell, put it out in front of a friends house in New York, and it got stolen, rolled and destroyed shortly after. We got a call from a farmer who found it and just called the number on the for sale sign.

"You boys missin a truck?"

"no sir....not that I know of"

"Whelp....there is one upside down in my field...I'm thinkin it's yours. "

Just finished watching the movie "The Dark of the Sun" with Rod Taylor and Yvette "Blonde Bimbo" They had a lot of scenes with fj40's the last scene was the best when Rod was beating the crap out of the cruiser over rocks, streams, down hills. He was showing no mercy to that cruiser! But at the end he just drove it away!
Great show.

Let us know how you make out. I responded to a cheap 80 way back and it turned out to be a scam.
