That bulb is your parking / running light. It’s mostly for decoration and doesn’t project light.

Sweet I found a decent diagram and came to that conclusion. Thanks a ton

Just following up, the Wagner 9011 from ra.com don’t seem to be Phillips. The say made in Germany but there is Wagner branding on the bulb housing and the box is branded. Probably doesn’t matter looking forward to anywhere near 30% brighter

Anyone know how to get high beams working, low beams are the only thing that work. Sigh

After reading most of this thread I'm confused about this.
I have a 2002 LX470 - see photo - and really don't know what I already have and what I need to upgrade for more light.
Night driving I don't have much light in low beams at all.
The inner high beams on my car do dissipate a lot of heat but the outter low beams do not - I can feel the difference.

What do I need to get more light?
Replace the Low Beams with 9005's or HIR1-90011 and 90012's?
I don't want a complicated or expensive change though.

Here is my 2002 LX470:

This thread has been quiet for a couple years, anyone have an update on what they're liking for standard bulbs (not LED or mini-projectors)

For my LX I run:

Low beam: Tungsram +120 H1
High beam: Toshiba HIR1 9011 w/ tab removed
Fogs: Flosser selective yellow H3

I opened a convo with Daniel Stern to determine these bulbs. It doesn't perform like some of the very well done conversions here, but I didn't expect it to as it was a fraction of the cost and was installed in minutes. When my lenses start to deteriorate I figure I will move up to a full LED conversion, but for now this setup has been great.

Nice. Who is Daniel Stern?

Nice. thank you for clarifying, haha.

Edit: looked at both D Stern links and they seem like they are both titans of their industry.

I did the same with Daniel Stern. My body shop polished my lenses and sprayed clear with UV protectant on them. I’ll have the truck this weekend and let you know how it is. Mine has 88k miles and was stored from 2011-2017 at 28k, so the reflectors are likely in better shape than most.

@Rhetoric - Where did you purchase those bulbs? I'm having a hard time finding a dealer. Thanks!
