Totally awesome vehicle. That being said, 4x/5x hub caps on a 7x clash with my untrained eye. Wheel and tire dimensions nailed it. This center would have been my pick. Of course, one man's opinion. We know what opinions are worth...

My job is to deliver a vehicle the customer is happy with. He likes these wheels so that’s all that matters to me.

Cheers

There you have it...

How much does that cap weigh?

From an Alu-cab install document:

80kg is about 177 pounds, not sure what the steel roof that you cut out weighs.

I'll let you know once I scrap mine as I'll roll across the scales at the recycler with it soon.

According to the chart the removed roof structure weighs .04 tons. 40 kilograms by my math. That makes the Alucab roof 120 kilograms.

Here’s the other thing I didn’t comment on, been super busy beyond just work.

We needed to land at certain specs for the wheels. Without 4.5+” of backspacing you will have tire poke with a 70/60/whatever body on an 80 chassis. 5” bs is about the max you can do on an 80 before tres and rear frame rails become a problem. 4.75” of bs is a nice medium.

We also now have Power Brakes up front, for example stock 80 (or similar) wheels won’t clear the big calipers.

So there is-was a fair amount to consider when selecting wheels.

Nice 80-series rear diff lock skid I had coated, this Cruiser won’t need a beefy diff lock motor skid as it won’t see that kind of off-roading.

Steering column parts, Toyota left most of this raw metal.

Fresh bearing

The collapsible shaft with u-joint.

This is the sleeve for the upper collapsible shaft, it is also collapsible.

I had it “air dry” cerakoted because there is a plastic bushing in it I didn’t want to get cooked.

Just need to get some parts in from Japan and we can finish off the column rebuild.

Oh ya, these are “break away” on the steering column mount. Another built in safety feature the old non-tilt column didn’t have.
