I also have an aluminum radiator. FWIW I left the foam off and it has made zero difference. Good fan and fan clutch with shroud in place. Runs nice and cool. Granted I haven’t been driving with AC on in 90+ degree temps. Good stuff happening in Alex’s Garage. Keep it up.

Bucket list. Met @FJ60Cam talked nonsense. It was great.

Touched @Godwin ’s motor and blessed it for the final commissioning.

@Godwin ought to be called "More Power Jim". Love that you're always chasing a little extra while staying in the Toyota sandbox and not just LS swapping. No offense to LS folks, I just find it more interesting when people get creative and squeeze more life from F-family motors.

@HemiAlex You need to get on with your "more power" mission. We're waiting, and we're getting impatient.

750 miles down on this trip. Zero issues, perfect running and 15mpg.

I don’t know when the 2F is going to die. But right now it feels completely healthy.

The biggest issue I have it taking apart a running truck.

@HemiAlex Take it out and put it with the "Alex's stash of decently running motors for people who need to use them" pile in your shed.

I painted an airplane hanger door like the one in your photo. That was a looooong time ago and I just had some memories of that job. Dude stiffed me and ran.

Bucket list stop @wngrog ‘s mini cruiser Mecca. zero regrets.

Oddball is my new favorite obsession.

Thanks do the tour. It’s appreciated.

100,000 miles of daily driving a mostly stock 2F 60. Zero issues and lots of friends made.

I wouldn’t change a thing. This truck has been a tank.

1,500 miles from central Texas to Los Angeles. Came out here from work because I didn’t want to fly.

When in doubt, take the tractor.

1500 miles for a FJ60 is nothing. Get in, turn key, go, gas up, go some more. I was going to post some snarky comment about how a 200 series owner would approach this trip but then I remembered you now own a 200:lol:

Round trip done.

This truck needs better seats. I’m hurting. I went straight to aleeve, Blantons and an ice pack as soon as I got home.

Zero issues. It seems to really like this Mobil 1 15w50 oil. Consumption was the lowest it’s ever been. 1q in 3500 miles.

More to follow.

You’d be proud. My wife was insisting that I take her truck for this, I declined.

I’m godwin kin, I know it.

It got amazing mileage depending on the incline and wind direction. Adjusted to 16.6 on one flat leg of this.

I even passed a few semis.

Really no shortcomings aside from the seats.

New max speed achieved 92 mph. I felt gearing was just out of steam.

It’s trying its best to be a dinosaur in a land of AI.

New motto just dropped: Always be the dinosaur in the land of AI.

My truck was relatively low mileage when I got it so the foam wasn’t totally blasted, but they’re still not god’s gift to automotive seats. Karen and I use little couch throw pillows under our butts. They’re like 12x12 and the padding is very thin. It’s just enough to make a big difference. Before you go crazy seat swapping try that out.

I’ve been trying to convince Karen over the past few weeks that we should buy a bolt of 60 fabric from SMS and start making throw pillows out of 60 upholstery… use them in the truck or on your couch at home. Not sure we’d have a lot of takers though. At the same time chachkies like the Walmart 40 Series shirts and stamped metal Land Cruiser signs from Hobby Lobby seem to be popular.

On the fuel economy thing, I could regularly get 15-18mpg on my old worn out and tired 2F if I was on the flat stuff for long periods. With the new 2F I get 10.5mpg no matter what. Might be because I’ve tuned the secondary a little more aggressively.

We’d absolutely buy a couple of throw pillows in 60 Tan fabric if y’all end up making any!

I just did a little over 1000 mile trip in my BJ74. It was glorious…but the my seats are tired as well. I swapped seat bottoms side to side and that helped for a little bit a couple years ago, but that foam can only handle so many years of offroad, swamp @ss and beer farts.

I’ve been trying to decide between recaro expert and scheel Mann for a little while now. Leaning towards recaro, my friend has them in his 40 and they are nice. The price tags on both are a bit…

16mpg is pretty good on a modded 60. I got nearly 23mpg in my BJ74 when I kept it at 64-65, some hills 5000’ altitude. I wonder how I’d do at flat land?

Driving those double A powered AI cars is so boring…

After my last big trip, the truck developed a problem. A bolt fell out of the interface between the intake and exhaust manifold and the divider gasket blew out.

So it’s got a massive exhaust leak right out of the horizontal interface.

Also, it’s draining the fuel bowl overnight. Morningstarts are hard, inconsistent and smelly.

I’ve got a spare carb from @samc2447 and I’ll tear into my rebuilt carb. I have a spare leather accelerator pump in oem leather I’ll throw in.

Pics unrelated. The truck is still awesome. Some friends came out to visit last weekend. James in his FJ40 and Travis in his HJ61
