So you are saying Moab shakedown test at the end of the month? ;)

I got it back home, blowing white smoke... time for teardown to see what the damage was.

Head gasket failure between two cylinders! It was a pretty mild blowout compared to the time before. Yucky valve cover, steam-cleaned valves, and pistons!

But, regardless it got me back home 4 hours... However, always the smarter move is to get a tow. I'm a slow learner.

After inspecting everything, finding some chipping on the piston heads and worried about potential head warp (IT didn't thank god)

I decided to go ahead and pull it to be rebuilt. Also, this was the first time I had pulled an engine out. So I was super excited and loved the process!
I am sure I looked a little strange doing this with a smile on my face. But it was a fun process that ended in the dark with help from my family!

Dropped off at the machine shop!

Fast forward to picking my Rebuilt 2F from Martin Davidson's Machine Ship! Thanks, @Spike Strip for the recommendation! It was fun seeing another 2F in there getting done! Also, I picked up a little something something from the Toyota Dealership on the way home!

I was stoked to have my 2F back home!

Time to pull the 60 out of the pines and back into the driveway! I needed to pull the Trans/T-case out to make room for the new Shiny H55F and clean up the engine bay before stuffing it all back in!

Do a quick inspection and reseal of the T-Case to the new 5-speed! I enjoy working on T cases! Wish I put in 3:1 sumo gears but I wanted to be back on the road!

@mattressking came over to help with the first start-up and tune! After a couple of hiccups and last-minute things we finally took the rip around town to start breaking it in and picking up some fresh fuel

Which had me thinking about my rear storage setup. Time for a change and a quick clean-up of all the OEM tools + Jack maintenance.

Installed the OEM headlight upgrade kit. This is in 2020, they still work amazingly today!

Had a cruiser friend come visit, we did some break-in miles together!

I picked up an FJ40 and it took its place in the garage. Family friends from SW Colorado. Really sweet running 78. Wish I didn't sell it. But learned a lot about 40's/ learned how much I love the way my 60 drives compared. But SAS was coming up, my 60 got a free ride back to Colorado on the trailer! (Thanks dad) :D
