Live from the beach....

High tide and hide surf (20ft yesterday, 10-15ft today) means water is high. As in, all water to fence washing over sand bar into lagoon. State park worker at kiosk will look at you like you're crazy if you enter at high tide without a boat. Good news is the soft sand isn't too soft. Check the tide table if such things concern you.

For those of us that haven't been to pismo for a long time and are probably coming in at high tide at night, what is the best route? Any need to air down for the water crossing (80 with 33" tires, locked)?

Do people hide their women and children when they see your pig comin' 'round?

Better watch it, Pigs are chick magnets. Whenever a classy pig is around, every woman 5 miles around gets hot pants, hatcha!

Another pig is leaving early Friday. This blue camp sounds intriguing ,but I'll stick to the green camp.

The real high tides are in the morning. No reason not to air down as soon as you hit the sand.

This is only my 4th year in a row and have not had to deal with a water crossing yet. We will probably roll in between 5 and 7pm so i dont expect tides to be an issue this year either. As far as airing down go's, i usually air down in the parking lot just outside the ranger kiosk before hitting the beach. It might be more fun to dig holes in the beach with overinflated tires and then deflate in order to try and climb out of the holes but i have not tried this yet. My locked 80 on 285's has had no problem towing a 3,000 lb popup trailer quite far into the soft sand with tires around 15 lbs.

Stayner clan is set up, Mike Knorr helped haul and set-up the Surf N Turf stuff. Thanks!
Alvaro, Rick, Pablo, wives and kids, are already cooking.

Great, so that means you don't need any help setting up this year :grinpimp:
See you in the morning.

if you are comin in after dark air down and lock up when you hit sand. its better to be way over prepared for water/deep sand and just cruise on through than trying to air down while avoiding water in the dark trust me haha.... or.. when in doubt throttle out. thats my motto

packing

Just finished getting stuff together and setting it aside will load up after work tommorow and keep rig inside garage to be road ready friday morning.cooler is loaded with meat, beer and a big bottle of Jose Cuervo:D (yes I'm sharing) i would most likely flat on my back after the 3rd shot :lol:. John:clap:

there are only two gates to get on the sand. grand and pier. pier would be the closest..... and dont feel bad about being a rookie ive been to pismo a thousand times and never could remember that gate is pier ave haha always just called it south gate.

so if i am arriving about 8-9 am saturday am i gonna get some drama at the water crossing?

and i remember someone mentioning saturday traffic in pismo could be bad wit a marching band and stuff. is that still going on?

Trailer is packed and ready to go. Just waiting for RFJTOY to call so we can go pick up lots of firewood down at my golf club (free!).

Can't wait! Looks like we might actually have good weather this year after being blown off the beach the last couple of years!

YAHOO!!!

Whats the hot tip for some serious firewood (not the Vons/CVS bindles) in town or at or near the beach

Is it weird to show up alone and not knowing anyone? Alone is not normal wheeling protocol

Wife went out of town last minute for the weekend with the kids.

I'm trying to cancel my reservation at the Quality Inn...

...no, we're still coming. My coworker is coming also and his in-laws have a house over there we can all stay in.

If I can't get my money back, does anyone want to stay Friday & Saturday night for $175? (or best offer?)

I work at Valley Toyota in Hanford, CA and the other day I was asking our parts manager, Moises, if he might be able to contribute some raffle prizes.
Today, he started pulling out cups, and hats, and shirts, and this is what we ended up with.

My 4-year old daughter, Adelaide, was helping me sort the pens and pads, so she had to be in the picture.

Jim, if you're listening, I'll be dropping these off sometime Friday evening. :D
