I'm in the same boat with the cooking situation. I may have to buy a stove

Hey. I have my son this weekend and am thinking about running down on Friday evening, coming back on Sunday. I don't have my old camping gear, but have pads to sleep in the 80. A few questions:

1) Do they have pit BBQ's there to cook on?
2) How do you decide what camp to stay in (blue v. other)?
3) Is it Kid friendly for a 7 year old?

Thanks,

Cary

first off, you can both have full access to my gas bbq and stove...just grab some extra gas canisters, as I will probably run out. come one, come all...

second, for cary... blue camp is just a joke because it was the color on my paint brush at the time and simply indicates where we will be.

camp where ever you see fit but you for sure can squeeze in with us and there are lots of kids everywhere.

just don't bring your ex-wife, she is not welcome at blue camp.

I found some 72" flag poles at Wal Mart for ~$5/ea. I grabbed two of them, in case one breaks.

do they have mounts too? I may need to improvise something if I end up having to take the :princess:mobile...

Glad to hear that there will other kids in the camp i have 2 of my own plus the wife.I'm not to sure where to camp but i'm sure there will be plenty of room for a big tent. is it required to bring your own firewood ? just want to be prepared in case needed.i'm sure you could tell that this is my rookie year been trying for the last 2 years it looks like going to happen this time can't wait to get there.leaving east bay around 6 a.m Friday not sure if i will run into somebody along the road.:steer::bounce::bounce2:

Shipwreck,

Are you in Saratoga or San Jose? I live in Los Gatos.

Technically I'm in Saratoga, but I'm closer to Westgate than the village. Saratoga slums is just next to Saratoga Ave @ Hwy 85.

Bummer you cant make it. I can grab your hoodie for ya.

(who is crazy lotion girl? )

EDIT: or nat... either way is fine with me

Thanks for the offers guys. If either one of you wants to grab it for me, I can meet up whenever its convenient for you. Send me a PM and we can work out details. The bag will be under Craig Park. Talk to Jim he'll set you up.

Thanks guys!

every post i read, i become more and more sad.

last year, as i was helping Jim break down and clean up, i watched the last Land Cruiser leave Pismo and i remember feeling so melancholy. i just sat there "Indian style" in the sand as i saw it disappear through the tears in my eyes.. i couldnt believe it was over. i never wanted SNT to end. Jim hugged me in a "there there, little one" kind of way to let me know he understood..
last year was my first year and i will never forget it. i will never forget the wonderful people i got to meet and connect with. you guys have a blast and be safe. Skillet, try not to lay your bike down this year if you can..

and you guys better do at least one shot of cazadores for me ;)

You can share mine too, if you want. I can bring my big cylinder and an extra fitting too...

That is, if I'm allowed into this exclusive "Blue Camp"...

I'm packed, just checking fluids. I won't be there until after dark now.

Ahh, thanks. Standard screw on canisters???? As far as the ex-wife, I don't think she is welcome anywhere at this point. Now if I could just convince the girlfriend to come, that would be great.

Live from the beach....
(actually just ran home to get my pillow and a bottle of tequila)

Camp it set up!

High tide and hide surf (20ft yesterday, 10-15ft today) means water is high. As in, all water to fence washing over sand bar into lagoon. State park worker at kiosk will look at you like you're crazy if you enter at high tide without a boat. Good news is the soft sand isn't too soft. Check the tide table if such things concern you.

We have campers, trailers, motorhomes, fifth wheels, tow rigs and trailers in camp so it can be done.

Aqualu Canadians came in with the four wheel independent snow cruiser. AWESOME!
Stayner clan is set up, Mike Knorr helped haul and set-up the Surf N Turf stuff. Thanks!
Alvaro, Rick, Pablo, wives and kids, are already cooking.

Lot's more and I was passing Cruisers as I drove out tonight.

Time to go, I have a bonfire calling me.

Bring sunscreen - it was mid 80s today.

Whoooo Hoooo

Night time rocket launch south of Pismo

So being the professional space exploration geek I am, I've been following the status of launch out of Vandenberg AFB south of the beach.

Right now the Delta II rocket is scheduled to launch at 7:20PM on Friday. We are 21 miles from the launch pad at camp. This rocket as a few solid motors, so it should be easy to see the first minute of flight.

To see the launch look due South. Map of where to look & Mission Status Website

I'll be at the beach by then, so feel free to find me (dune beige 40 with NASA stickers on the rear quarters) and enjoy my running commentary of the launch. I'll keep an eye on the status just in case it's scrubbed.
