Not a justification to buy a lathe?
Lol that wouldn’t make enough money to justify it
The Eastwood mini lathe looks intriguing though

Haha been looking at the same one. Would be a waste of money in my case but i stretch excuses.

I feel that
Hate wasting money on people doing the work for me when I could just do it myself

Another tower done
Going to attach them together with more fancy tube stuff so the sub frame thing and engine cage are connected

Still has enough up travel to touch the skid plate
Oh yeah it’s like mostly on the ground basically a huge go kart
Rear end is held up by a 37” spare
Need to get springs in and then it’ll be all the way on the ground

Got a decent amount of stuff done
Everything seems easy now

Needs more steering angle so I’ll have to do something with that
Hopefully the arm on the steering box let’s me weld to it

Outside of “why just whyyy”
The thing I get the most questions on without a doubt is the steering, understandably. Lots of unique issues with narrow front ends like steering rack no fit
Steering box no work with ifs(usually) yada yada

To achieve the most narrow front end to maximize wheel travel while keeping it less than 90” wide I decided to mount the steering box at 90 degrees because the engine was in the way for the steering input shaft.
A 90’ bevel box was added, I think it’s for a lawnmower🤷‍♂️🤙
Which moves the steering input to the side of the engine
Most people said to just go full hydro, which would be easy, after some quick research I found out why none of the big boys go full hydro on ifs rigs, there is no feel, which if you’re like me and love getting sideways you know that is just a recipe for disaster.
Anyway steering is pretty much done gotta make brackets and weld it up.

Also the transmission/t case are in and the front drive shaft fits like a glove literally no room for error
And of course my t case is leaking
Probably forgot a bolt, it and the trans are getting a rebuild anyways all good I just need everything metal to be done so I can start painting and do wiring.

Does this mean metal is ready for paint?

Does this mean metal is ready for paint?
Pretty close
I still haven’t fully decided on a color
Means I get to pull everything off of it
Finish welding all those spots I can’t get to
Add gussets and then I get to paint the cage

holy smokes what a difference when you skip from page 1 to here! I see you went in a different direction lol

Final thing before it all gets ripped apart for paint
Found a few cad files and drawings recreated them in cad and meshed them with my truck
After playing around with them this is what I have come up with

That's wild and I love it. Depending how it turns out I might copy that for my rig.

I wouldn’t mind cutting it out again
