I know for me, the earlier I can plan the better my summer will be.

Where would evrybody like to go this summer? Day trips, weekenders, evenings. Post up some ideas for discussion at the meeting.

Myself, Ruby was fun, T-bar, Fischer if it happens was one I was choked to miss. Crowsnest is fun and a little expeditionary ... those are all good but any suggestions or new ideas would be great.

Crowsnest would be a great trip. I was hoping to head into BC for a few and check out that Molybdenite Peak run, its a bit of a trek but the views look like it's worth it.
I will be checking out the Ural Mountains from a chopper in few weeks, I figure that's a good start.

Some RMLCA members are doing Fischer East is the weekend after May long. We're doing Ruby Lake at some point as well but I can't recall which long weekend that was. Are you guys doing any repairs to the so-called bridge/ mud hole on the Ruby trail? There was talk of a project this year.

Both those trips intrigue me. Ruby would be a great place to have a province wide get together. Its something we have discussed at a few meetings.

In the Cadomine area...one of my favorite spots in Alberta

I would be down for Ruby on the Canada long weekend. Finally, a weekend that I have off from work that jives.
Wouldn't mind being on the shovel too, if some planned bridge work is in the mix.

A couple of us up north were hoping to do ruby lake as well but can't make it that weekend. We might be doing it the first week of August in case anyone else wants to go but can't go at canada dat

The fernie trip is never planned too far ahead, we will let you know once we have more details.

The ruby lake trip would be something like:
- Friday night, drive from town and camp at our usual spot on the cardinal river road.
- Saturday - drive to ruby lake
- Sunday - drive to ruby falls and back to lake.
- Monday - likely drive from ruby lake to a spot on cardinal river and head home Tuesday

I'm in for this. I'd have to show up late on Friday though..... and leave early on Monday with the intent to drive back to McMurray that evening. Is anyone else planning to have kids there??

Awesome! Action Jackson will be there.

Any chance you can bring along that side glass? I can bring a greased rope and we can see if we can crack it!

yup. I'll bring the window. And 1 or 2 kids. Although I don't know how I'd pack 2 kids and gear in that 42!

If I tow the 42 to..... wherever people stay on Friday night, is there any high speed driving after that? Or is it right into the trail from there.

So my hazy recollection is we went to Nordegg and topped up fuel at a very one pump gas station before heading west on the hwy a couple miles and then turning north on the 40 Trunk road. We proceeded about 70km up the trunk road before turning left (south west) down to a second bridge crossing. That second bridge crossing is where we camped Friday night last year.

Edit: removed the map from public view - ping me if you need directions

No. From the Friday night bridge camp site it is low speed gravel road for maybe 10km before we turn south off of the Cardinal River rd and immediately cross the river (wet) and enter a cut line. We go up over a ridge on the cutline and descend into the river valley. We then follow the river, sometimes in it, and cross it 30 times as we make our way west up the valley. At some point before Ruby Lake we exit the river and begin the climb up to the Lake. Crossings last year were axle deep with one or two up to the floor. My dog crossed most on foot.

You could park your tow rig in any number of places.
1) Right in Nordegg
2) At the Friday night camp bridge. There is a clearing and a half decent "lot" on the North West corner of that bridge. Some people camp there and last year there were a couple trucks parked there presumably fishing. A small black bear was there too.
3) Maybe the best option.... the Trailhead proper. At the point where we leave the Cardinal River Rd and enter the river there were probably three or four big travel trailers camped with quaders and single track guys/ families/kids/grampa last year. I seem to recall enough area to be out of the way and yet visible to traffic.

Coastal Kevin and the other guys know the area better and may know the perfect spot to park the tow rig for three days.
