No - I'm not 100% certain I want to sell Patty. Yes - I'm 100% certain I'll have some remorse even if I become 100% certain I should sell Patty. It's coming down to a space issue, or a lack of space to be specific. Also, I'm not driving the truck as much as I thought/hoped I would. In 7 (!) years, I've driven the truck 4,000 miles. She's left Atlanta ONE time in that period.

IF (if) you were selling a low-mile, nicely resurrected '84 Xtra Cab, which of the platforms/marketplaces would you go to first or avoid? BAT? (really don't think I want to deal with that) FB Marketplace, 'Mud Classifieds? Craig's List?

I'd start with Mud classifieds. That truck owes no apologies, so you can disregard price snipers and gauge interest from enthusiasts. I'd only use BAT if I'm really trying to squeeze every cent out of it...and am also prepared to be disappointed.

probably get the most views on fbm.

im in the same boat.
basically no hits here. ig/fb shows to <300/day.
i listed on marketplace yesterday.
feeling like a weak market currently.

Are ye really gonna sell it?
I really (really) don't know. When I bought my 100 Series 16 years ago, it was 4 years old and had 39,000 miles. So having a CJ8 (shut up, I'm cured) and then the '84 pickup made sense - a newish DD and an old toy. Well, the 100 is 20 yrs old, has 200,000 miles on it. It's starting to feel like I have two toys... and no room for something newer. But really... I don't know I'm going to do.

Sounds like FBM is the easiest first shot. May have to turn off comments though. I can already see the comments... "You're crazy, I can buy a 2010 Tacoma for that kinda money."

I'd used to say depending on condition, BaT, but they've drastically reduced their condition requirements. Some comments on there calling it "new Craigslist".

Anyway, FBM is probably the most exposure, but the most hassle, too. People there are usually the worst.

Craigslist may have less exposure, but I think the quality of replies etc is better.

Also, a pic woukd be nice!

That hundred has yet tons of life. Mine has 308k on the clock, runs great, drives great. We are all guilty of wanting newer vehicles all of the time. This is indeed a tough one. And yes, I am not of FB but I hear horror stories from people trying to sell, and buy, honestly, on the platform. It's nuts.

Yeah, can't hurt to post it on Craigslist.

Wow that's clean. Dang. Custom "trayback"?

... Custom "trayback"?
It is. Lots of CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) and then Dugan, ACC's master fabricator, did the heaving lifting, then it was powder coated to match the cab.

There's fewer people that want this generation truck. They ARE out there, just not as many as there used to be. Put a sign on it and drive it around. You know, use it. ;)

I found a few trucks like that. Saw it parked somewhere and it had a for sale sign. After you drive it around again, you'll either change your mind, make up your mind or maybe get some interested buyers.

Mud classified, FB and CL all work and all have their pros and cons. Just how it is.

I don't think I could sell it.

As someone with a decent amount of Facebook Marketplace experience, both buying and selling, it’s a royal PITA. I would avoid it if possible, and the market is soft right now. Craigslist seems to have very little exposure these days also, with Marketplace taking over. I personally believe a MUD classified would be the best first step, and then BaT. The good thing about BaT is you can put a reserve on the auction. Cars and Bids is the other auction site that you may consider, but it doesn’t have the exposure BaT does either.

Thanks @cruiserinsanity, I'm with you - I've only sold a few things on FBM, and it's definitely a PITA at best, sketchy at worst.
@aztoyman, if I had unlimited space, yeah, I'd keep Patty and keep buying toys. Before I bought the 100, I was constantly changing cars - averaging 18 months before I replaced it. I kinda miss those days. I love the 100 and Patty, but feel sorta stuck. Again, need space.

wow, she is beautiful. Those were the days of simplicity and reliability. I dont even know what something like this is worth. Would you mind sharing what kind of price you are hoping to get out of it?

Thanks @96bruizer. I have to be careful I don't turn this into a classified post (is trunkmonkey around? ;-) ). I haven't landed on a price. It'll probably start with a "2" though... probably

This ‘86 sold on BaT to a man local to my area, the shop I work for services it. It’s an extremely nice truck, but in my opinion Patty is a better truck, and I have seen both in person.

BaT seems to be all over the place lately. Here are two somewhat similar pickups with a $20K difference in price.

Granted, the higher one is manual transmission and straight axle, although I'm not sure BaT buyers are the same as a 'MUD buyer. I suppose location has something to do with it too. Otherwise, both seem to be showing their age.

If you really want big money, apparently you do a BTTF clone.
