It's the least they could do… seems like they're reluctant to help recover your vehicle even if you locate it.

I would have handed him a hose and disconnected the other end. “Oh sorry man... there’s a drought” and then if he lunged at my wife I would have wrapped that hose around him and dragged his ass behind the land cruiser all the way to the police station. Don’t touch my truck. Don’t even set your coffee mug on my rusty hood....This guy broke into my 55 about six weeks ago At 01:30. I ran out and caught him. Ended up spraying him with pepper gel as he wouldn’t leave and lunged at my wife, who was talking to 911. He got to meet our local police. Listening to this arrogant little thief complain about his eyes to the cops was hilarious. Even more funny was the cops answer. “We are doing something for your eyes. We’re giving them air.”
I gave him a hose while we waited For the polizei. Cause I’m a former EMT I guess. I’m born here. And I have long since lost sympathy for these wet farts as I’ve had my boat stolen, Rv ransacked multiple times in storage. Car ransacked at marina on Tomahawk Island and watched tweaker camps destroy business after business And neighborhood peace. I wonder how many anarchist turds are these guys too.

Sorry that you did not see her.spent all day and into the evening looking around for her. nothing yet.
we hit a ton of homeless camps/ bike chopping sites - no joy yet.
it’s such a strange notion to ponder.
thief can’t just sell the truck. no title. no one with any sense is gonna buy it. they’ll never get it registered or titled
so that leaves someone who would sell off parts? god that’s a lot of work for someone - and for a niche vehicle that probably doesn’t move parts very fast.
not to mention how would they sell them? craigslist? buyer to pick up parts from a homeless camp?
i guess i don’t have a criminal mind…none of these options make any sense.
i’m sorta leaning toward i don’t want it found.
I would go back to the paint shop and have a conversationI’ve seen enough violence to last many life times. I caught him. Stopped him. Had him arrested. How’s that song go…oh yeah. I’m simply the best. Better than all the rest…..
Best not to try and rationalize this. Most likely some tweaker looking for a joy ride. A ton have been stolen in your area and most have shown up or been found soon after. Hoping this is the case for you and with minimal impact. I had a motorcycle stolen once and got it back that night but with damage. It’s made me forever stressed about losing things I value.spent all day and into the evening looking around for her. nothing yet.

I would bet that it is sitting somewhere out of gas, with a bunch of other stolen crap in it. That was the experience of multiple friends of mine who owned 60s/62s in SF back in the day. They were not stolen for parting out or re-selling - just for using to commit other crimes, or just for the joyride. Easy to steal without a lot of work. Once the gas is gone, they get dumped. Always recovered, usually with a couple parking tickets but no real damage. It's just a matter of finding it, or having someone report it as abandoned because it's sitting in front of their house. I sincerely hope this is the case with yours!
These LC owners had steering wheel Clubs but never, ever put them on. It's not that the Club is thief-proof - it's just more work to get through it.
The prospect of a returned truck is pretty good. Most of them to turn up. Maybe abused a bit, but keep your eyes out. It’s bound to turn up.yeah - now that i'm 24 hours out from the whole ordeal - i'm starting to calm down and think/hope maybe it'll turn up...and maybe she'll be fine? maybe??
I did a the 5 speed swap myself back in 2018 - if I do get her back i'll be adding a kill switch to the old neutral safety switch circuit.
