Gov. Furlough/Layoff
A lot of guys on the Arsenal are getting laid off (Gov term is furlough). So far I've been luckily enough to not be furloughed...but the situation changes daily so who knows when or for how long.
Now if only our "elected ones" will get off their ass and learn how to make decisions and make deals in order to work together...we might get somewhere. I can tell you that from a gov. employee this crap has been going on for 3+ years...very stressful for those of us who just do the work.
Still don't understand how "you" have the @@#$ to leverage the country for political points!

I am not living hand to mouth but I pity those who are as the Eagle will likely not be taking a dump as normally scheduled this month.
I would rather be furloughed than working for free with very limited resources. Especially since those who are actually out may be getting back pay anyway. Nice little vacation for them.

yea...looks like some will get a free vacation as one side of congress has passed back pay bill but not passed the other side just yet..but its been my experience that politically sensitive items seem to get passed without too much heartburn no matter the purpsoe.
Most people who were furloughed "here" have been called back. Of course as noted the next key feature is actually getting paid for hours served.
More details but that would be too much whine....needless to say its a long broken record that everyone is tired of hearing from the people in DC.

Our Availability hours are not being recorded right now (as an LEO I get paid some extra money as a sort of automatic OT but by the end of the year bean counters want to see I averaged an extra 10 hours a week to justify the extra money - most of us always well exceed that average) that means I am a 9 to 5 employee right now - no way I am going to get screwed anymore than I already am.

There have been posts about this on the GA Cruisers chapter page here on mud, plus I have been told by friends that this is popping up on various forums. Searching for Durhamtown might up a number of these related posts for you.
It appears to be the Snowbird hunting club land off old trail 6. But land description dose not fit what I was previously told. I will do some research and let everyone know.
Steve at SE Overland is pretty up on it. I think he is planning to be at there innagural run. I have been reading the posts in the GA and SC club boards.
