Elbert, that's interesting. I was looking at lug studs the other day. I need to replace a few on my 40. If you go on Rockauto and pull up different years of Cruisers I know I saw your OE style on there.

the ones that I'm showing are from Rock Auto...these are "wagner" brand, I think there are two or three other ones shown but I did not check to see what the differences were. Seems like for US model truck (which Rock Auto) main market is....there should only be one wheel stud for the front and one for the rear. I got another few from another parts place in town (doorman brand), the ones they had in stock that the "booK" called for look just like the new aftermarket ones I posted above.... If I find out that the ones I received from the local store (local store guy ordered some from doorman that he thinks will work, they are different from the ones above in teh pic or from what the parts book called out)...I'll post the PN up, but it may be while...we repaired the one wheel stud I screwed up.

I ordered some from the yota parts master to make sure I had a few spares, I would like to find some that are approx 1/2 to 1/4 inch longer than the one on the far right, which is what came off my truck. Object is to gain some more threads for the lug nuts on the front. I screwed up and forgot to measure the length, we put the repaired wheel stud back on the truck.

I think when I went to Advance, I had to order studs for a 4Runner. They worked perfectly. Maybe Jason Hoffman can chime in. I had the same problem, ordered some replacements and when they came in, looked like the ones you have pictured on the left side. The 4Runner ones looked like the one on the right with the knurling in the right place Hope that helps

thanks....for the feedback. I bought a few toyota ones (wheel spacers) and waiting to get those in the mail to see what they look like. I'll be on the hunt for some on the front that are a little bit longer at some point (just so I feel better about the engagement with the lug nuts). I bought some different wheels and the fronts are forcing me to run a 1/4 spacer on the front (wheel spacer).

Wonder if anyone has seen some different wheel spacers on 6 * 5.5 wheel spacing. Anything of quality steel or aluminum out there? not the crap cast stuff? I'll look around on the web to see. These are basically the equivalent of using a shim or washer between the wheel and hub. My new wheels just barely kiss the caliper and I'm sure a little creative grinding one day will solve that, but for now I'm running these crappy wheel spacers from dorman which are about 1/4 or so. Apparently the LC caliper is just a hair narrower than the 4runner caliper and the wheel design at the center where it marries to the hub does not allow for this and so its part of the classic issues with aftermarket wheels on the LC.

IF anyone has seen some good steel thin 1/4 inch thick or so wheel spacers I'm looking. I'll get motivated one day to grind a little on the caliper or revert back to lc calipers on the front.

this is what I'm using now on the front and while they work...i'm not that big of a fan.

well not sure if there is a quality difference or preference for fit/finish...founds these just now on web hunt... Baer Brake 2000039, Baer Billet Wheel Spacers | Baer Brake

Two options on the wheel spacer .....

1) Find a local machine shop and see if they can make you some out of steel/aluminum.

or

2) Put the wheels on and drive it at exactly 78.3 miles per hour for no more than 9.648 miles. After that you want be needing any wheel spacers.

I've already exceeded the distance and mph limits...but thats not the normal mph I drive this box at. I do have a mutual friend who is a machinist... I do need to check the length of the stud to see how much the lug nut engages to ensure the length beyond my casual look when we put the wheels back on.

I generally prefer the wheels to stay mounted to the truck while the truck is moving.

Oh come on Elbert, live for the adventure.

I think someone else found out that wheels work better when they stay with the truck under motion. So far I've not accomplished that feat (having one of my wheels pass me under motion) but that's not to say it might not be on my future scorecard.

I'm thinking if I don't exceed 77.965342 mph I'll be safe for life :)

I'm the new owner of ARB junk (front and rear) and I'm going to solve this crap with the wheel spacer one way or the other...where the #$%# spacer gets thrown out. (I want out of the wheel spacer biz all together) right now that looks like swapping to LC front calipers if I can confirm there is a difference in the width of the calipers between the LC version and the 4runner version I have, or I grind on the calipers I have now a little bit, or I find some longer wheel studs for the front.

I got a few new Toyota wheel studs from Beno...but here lately with work and some doctor crap...I've basically done nothing on the "solution", while the new wheel studs from yota will not solve the issue, they will confirm what is the factory setup and then I can go hunting from that point...I've read a few places where there might be a 4runer front wheel stud that's about 1/4 inch longer but I can't confirm that. Also read where in AU apparently you can find LC front wheel studs in about any length you want.

Projects for me at present. Solve the front wheel spacer thing, setup my air compressor for ARB stuff, oh...and fix the heater core first, and then do a few things that need to be done in general.

Just a tip for those of curious minds.....a #$%# toyo 12.50 * 17 * 35 tire on steel wheels is not the lightest thing around... its a job to work with those by yourself... I don't know how in the hell I would ever get a flat tire off the ground and on my spare tire mount...by myself...maybe I could find a slope to back up to and go from there....bottom line...heavy stuff.

roof rack recommendation for FJ60? Who makes a good quality roof rack for the FJ60 and related mounting hardware? Looking for recommendations & sources. I'm just looking around but wanted to get some feedback.

I finally got around to swapping the rear hatch struts off my truck. I assume the ones on the truck were OEM original, Once opened the rear top hatch door would drop about a foot or two, which really got aggravating. Replaced with strut kit from cruiser-yard. All bolt in job. Original ball studs were a little bit tough to get out (factory loc tight)...anyway new studs went in and small coat of "blue" and everything works, now the top door stays open when opened. One of those things you forget about until the next time you go riding or whatever and the door hits you on the head or its always in the way.

I think one more mod I want to tackle on the 60 (at some point) is to get some better interior lighting...no matter if I have to "ghetto-ize" it with some led strips...interior lighting sucks at present. Maybe I need to mount one of those light bars on the ceiling pointing down....then I could see. A couple of holes with a drill and some duct tape an it would be like looking at the SUN :)

I put PFRAN led's in both my dome lights, makes a huge difference.

where info on this ? source...

I"ve got to check mine...not sure what condition my "light fixtures" are at present.

Dang Cole, that old 62 is going to be a beast when you get done. When did the 617 idea start rattling around in your noggin'?

And where did you find your 416? I need to get us one of those little trailers.

@jynx I've had the 617 on hold from a fellow Mud member in NC since last September, even came with the 4x4 Labs adapters too.

The 416 isn't mine, I picked it up for @slaw ninja in East TN this past weekend on the way to pick up the engine. Sweet little trailer though, I wouldn't mind having one.

I'll have to post up a pic later, but has anyone had to source the parking brake springs that you see on the rear of the drum housing at the rear axle, there by the cable?
I looked at spectors web site just now and the graphic there is pretty bad, but appears they only have used. Just wondering about sources. I've lost one somehow and I might as well buy new ones...I think its two on each side as i recall. I'll post a pic later today. 1986 FJ60 I'm almost sure the springs I have are 30 years old...so new replacements would be the choice if possible. I'll ask Beno about it too.

DOH!!!!!
