So apparently things had been going to well recently and now it all caught up with the project.

Could only get 3 out of the 4 calipers bled, I am sucking in air somewhere and I am not exactly sure from where. The caliper giving me trouble is the front passenger side caliper.

The spot where it attaches to the master could possibly be the cause of the air leak, I currently have the tube flared enough so that it does not fall out of the 1/4" 14m nut I could find.
I will need to figure out a way to get this adapted right before driving it.

I have looked everywhere for an adapter that allows 3/16" line to use a m14 x 1.5 nut, but apparently they do not exist or I am too dumb to find them.

M14x1.5? You sure?

Sky manufacturing makes Chevy master to Toyota m10x1.5 fittings. Go look there to see if they make what you need.

Yeah 100% sure on the m14 x 1.5

and Klinedog, I upgraded the compressor housing on my H1C, no sound ring came with it.

Looking really good man! You're getting close to the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks man, you too.
Your truck is coming along pretty well too.

Mine is done! (Sort of) I did a test run last weekend. Just need to button up a few last things but I'm ready to roll.

You're getting close!

I am so close to the test run its driving me crazy especially with all of the nonsense going on with my brakes. Even more has gone wrong.

After work today I decided to try and rebleed the system, well no good. The master cylinder has some crazy threads on it. I checked everywhere, and according to every source the front threads should be 9/16 -18, they are not. I am 100% sure. On my master for some reason the front thread is m14 - 1.5.

So I decided I hate this master cylinder and am going to get a new one. I then learned after buying a nice new Dodge 3500 MC and driving back to the shop that the MC's have different bolt patterns between Chevy and Dodge.
So I drive back to advance auto and grab another MC, this time I make sure that the bolt pattern matches up. I measure the bore and see that its 1 5/16" whereas the Astro MC was 1 1/4" I figure whats the harm in a slightly larger bore I have those huge 1 ton single piston calipers up front and some 3/4 ton calipers in the rear the extra fluid would probably help.
Well I drive back to the shop again and this time the outer ring on the bore is too big to fit into the hydroboost booster.

Tomorrow I will go back to advanced auto, grab another MC and try again. If this last one doesn't work I'm gonna be really pissed. I am tired of dealing with brakes and just want to test drive the truck.

Tapage used a MC out of a corvette of some vintage. It's worth checking into, sorry I can't remember offhand :frown:

True, I think he might have mentioned that earlier in my thread, I'll have to do some back reading. Thanks for the reminder.

That's the only down side to mixing and matching. You have to get a little more creative. Don't get frustrated though. You'll be driving it here soon.

again keep in mind this works for me .. I'm running ( thought ) smaller calipers all around than you do .. so you will probably wanna go bit bigger ..

Thanks Tapage, Glad to see you are still watching.

After work I popped by advanced auto again, and this time grabbed a MC from a 1 ton chevrolet van. 1 1/4" bore, with normal SAE fittings.

Got it installed and bench bled and immediately noticed a difference in pedal feel.
I turned on the motor to get the hydroboost helping out and soon found I had a leaky fitting which I tightened up.

Tomorrow I have a buddy coming over to help me bleed all the air out of the brakes and the hydroboost system. Should be able to drive it tomorrow.:D

Cheers

Yep, hopefully soon.

**** yeah ..

Interested in your feedback about pedal travel and feel ..

So far the pedal feels good, but still have not had a chance to get it driving.

The old toyota master cylinder for the clutch doesn't have enough capacity to fully engage the slave that came with the transmission.
It is pretty close but I am not able to shift into gears. I priced out a new master cylinder from a getrag truck to match the slave I have installed and can get one saturday so I will give that a shot. Hoepfully that is the last issue to be resolved to get it driving.

Ive got the hydraulic slave/master from the dodge I got the trans out of, it works well in my 80, was a single piece, but I had to build a bracket to mount it to the firewall as the master is kind of a twist in fitting, if this helps.

Actually I have a spare in my garage, though it would take a while to ship from canada.
