I have done a few more things, powdercoated the front bumper and front portion of the frame. This was kind of an experiment to see if I like the powdercoating over the por-15 for the frame. Also made some tabs for the turn signal wiring to mount to.

one more picture of the bumper, a coolant overflow reservoir I found on summit racing, and the exhaust after I re-designed it, and before I powder-coated it.

1. front section of the exhaust almost ready to powder-coat.
2. front section powdercoated with high-temp flat black.
3. the rear portions were done with high gloss black.
I did the exhaust in 3 pieces so I could remove it without removing the front drive shaft.

I have decided to post-pone the frame-off, I have a few other projects I need to finish before I can give the FJ the attention a frame-off requires. Finishing up an engine swap on a buddy's mr2 in my garage, as well as getting an ae86 I recently bought ready for DD duty. In the mean time, next up I'll be making a seat frame for some late model mr2 seats that the guy is giving me, that way I can mate the original seats to the original seat frame and have that ready to go if I want to return it to a more original look. My lists of tasks for the FJ is: 1. seat frame with seatbelt and center console mounts 2. rust repair, includes fixing that area of the body support that has been cut out for the exhaust it came with. 3. pull t-case and tranny..... again, throwout bearing is making noise and the clutch slips a little bit under heavy throttle in 3rd and 4th gear, also has a leak that I think stems from the t-case hitting something and not being able to seal.

where you get that proportioning valve bracket?

It's the original proportioning valve mount, was on the truck before I did the swap. I just took the old prop valve off and welded that peice of steel onto it, drilled holes, and powder-coated it.

Started tackling the cancer this weekend.

Not what I was hoping to find at all. I'll save this until after the body work.

So today i got home from work and started wire wheeling some rust. I got to the top of the back doors and thought the channel that goes on top of the doors looks pretty bad, i should probably take it off and repair it. Then it snowballed into this

i was surprised that there is no cancer in the windshield area or really on the windshield itself. I have removed everything from the body except the brake and clutch equipment

I was really happy with how easy it was to remove the fat-mat sound deadening, I thought all the tar was going to stick to the metal. It wasn't easy, but the majority of it pulled off clean. Next step is removing the brake and clutch pedals, then starting on metal work. I will have to pull the t-case off eventually to fix the crack in it. I plan on doing all the body work before I start with the engine, and I'm not sure if I am going to take the tub off the frame yet, I will decide after/during bodywork.

Tonight i did the first patch on the fj. I did the dash, it had a square cut out for a large switch long before I owned it, the switch has never been there. I believe that is the only non-factory hole in the dash.

here is the hole

not sure if I am going to keep the original antenna holes or not. what do you guys think? obviously im not doing a bone stock resto since my truck already has a v8, and as i understand, the antenna was a dealemr installed option, not factory. hmmmm
