My name is Craig. 46 years, 5 kids(all grown). No surviving animals. From Tx via Mass. I am in the helicopter business. Rig is good to go(The Monkey Wagon progress....). Started doing the off-road thing 10 years back at moms cabin in Red River, NM. Might have some more new stuff done to the wagon before the trip....might not. This is a good excuse to stop the slider fab and install that AUssie locker . Looking forward to a great trip.

Does anyone have an idea on Sunday when the exit point would be for those needing to head home?
Day three, Unity to Meacham is about 150 miles of dirt although you could divert from camp 2 (sunday morning) on Hwy 26 to Baker City and take I-84 home if you're in a hurry (about a 6 hour drive from camp), or divert at Ukiah around lunch time for a 4 hour drive to PDX. The freeway roughly parallels our route so the mileage is similar; however we will be going much slower.

So is this correct on what we are planning so far?
Day 1 (Friday, May 13th): Prineville to Seneca
Day 2 (Saturday, May 14th): Seneca to Unity
Day 3 (Sunday, May 15th): Seneca to Meacham (This will be Sunday evening and people can depart onto I-84 to go back home if they wish)

So where do we go from Meacham @tacosupreme? Do we continue the next day (Monday May 16th) toward the WA boarder and do some of WA? What are the elevations once we get up in that area? I know Meacham is pretty high.

My name is Jason and I'm 41. The wife and I have been in the PNW for almost 2 years now. Just moved to Vancouver, WA and plan to stay awhile since we just bought our first house. 97 LC is pretty much stock with 194k on the clock. 35" MTRs, a fancy rear bumper, and a 1" body lift. Most PMs done. PHH will be done before trip. Wife will likely join along with our 8 month old Springer Spaniel who loves all things. We love to hike and camp. I'll bring homebrew. :) May 13th should work for us and we are flexible with other dates.

I think that is the plan, although I'm uncertain on a precise camp spot near Unity. Day 2 will be our shortest drive and afford the most recreation potential, fishing, etc. Maybe Olive Lake Campground south of Granite? It's a "fancy" campground you have to pay $12 a night, but the fishing is good and there are tons of crawdads in the lake.

I do have Monday off as well. We could do a day 4 push through Meacham to Tollgate and on to Walla Walla. I know that route well.

Sub'd for interest. Got the heads up for this on TacomaWorld from TacoSupreme, I'd like to try and make it. I'd leave my home in Seattle early Thurs afternoon and camp somewhere down there in order to meet at 6am Sat morning. I'll have to head home Sunday, depends on our progress as to from where I'll be heading home!

Alright so I'm in for Fri-Sun.

I'm Joe, 33 from Seattle. No kids, I'll be bringing my 9 year old German Shorthaired Pointer Fritz(friendly, won't attack your dog or kids). Have a 2000 4Runner limited, supercharged, lifted, armored with recovery gear. I'll have my CVT RTT on as well. Looking forward to it! Love Oregon.

That's funny! Bradley is pretty laid back as well. We had a bear raid our cooler one night, two feet from where we were sleeping. Didn't even bark. Which reminds me, we'll be in bear, cougar, and wolf country. Nothing to fear, but just be aware and put your food in a clear lane of fire not next to the tent, and keep an eye on kids and pets.

Yeah Fritz is pretty chill. He'll chase deer now and then but I don't think he's been around bear or cats. I actually have two other GSPs and he's the designated camping dog because the other two are kind of nuts!

Speaking of bears, everyone cool with firearms?

This is America isn't it?
I don't know about everyone else, but it's very unwise to be unarmed in the woods.

Yup I think ending in Walla Walla on Monday evening would be perfect!

Absolutely! Like @tacosupreme said, I believe its prudent to pack when out in the woods (as long as people are responsible gun owners and not dumb &^*^s!)

The "official" OBDR maps came in from OOHVA. $155 completely wasted. They are printed on a low quality printer on normal paper, 3rd grader flip book style with print so small you can't read road numbers, and even if you had a magnifying glass aren't legible due to the poor print quality. Meh, who needs maps anyway?

Ah man. I'm sorry about that. It's too bad they don't give you some sort of sample pic on their website so you know what you're getting. But maybe if they did that they wouldn't raise any funds. I've got some decent forest service maps I will be bringing along. That paired with my GPS ap usually gets me where I want to go.

I'm sure I could hop in the cruiser and just drive it all without any maps, however if we have to divert for fuel, parts, etc I'm uncertain on some of the connecting roads.

I was at a remote site today above the Spout Springs ski area and there was a solid 6' of snow, more in drifts. It's around 6000', but I've seen that much melt off in a week before.

@tacosupreme That sucks about the maps! Did you receive the GPS track that it states you can receive with the purchase of a map? Probably wouldnt hurt to have the GPS track as long as you already paid for it.

Hmm, no I didn't. I'll email them and see what's up.

Ok, I got GPS files, but not from OOHVA. I got them from a dude that rode it all on a dirtbike, actual GPS tracks, not waypoints. That is good in that we can follow his exact route, but that might get dicey trying to follow where a dude on a dirtbike went. Looks like he mostly stuck to roads, we should be fine. I converted the files to KML so you can view them in Google Earth, but it is possible to convert them to google maps. PM me your email addy if you are interested in them.

Ok PM'ed you. This should be a HUGE help I would think! Even if he decided to hit a single track or two where we could not pass with our vehicles, for the most part I'm sure we can follow it pretty closely. Now hopefully the snow will start going away.

I'm sure we are going think about all kinds of stuff that we are going to need within the group. So I figured as I thought of them I would throw it out there to see who is gonna bring what. Since we will be the first people on this route of the summer (I am assuming), I think we should have at least one chainsaw in our group if not 2. My saw finally s*** the bed last fall so I am saw-less at the moment. I can (and at some point need to) get another one. Does anyone else have a saw they can bring?
