Its a full on lazy boy haha! He either said late 80s or early 90s.
I know the 76 Prado was a 92.. want to say 88 for this? Its a 3B-T
 
Yes! I saw a 1 but only knew about the 3b so assumed it was 3bt
If it was a 3b with a turbo, the turbo would have been added later.
The 13bt is the evolution of the 3b... it has a glow screen vs. glow plugs and, of course, a turbo, which is necessary, IMHO, if you want to drive a Cruiser on the highway not hang out in the right lane all day. Also a big improvement with bigger tires.
It's important not to "lug" the engine meaning these engines like to run warm (not hot) and also in the mid RPM range. Which is opposite of a gasser, where you can run them at lower RPMs. Make sure the EGT gauge works, as that will prevent over heating and damage to head, exhaust manifold and turbo.
