Hey Georg here's a quick question: What's a good way to bend the shifter rods once you're ready to install? When I get back from my deployment (yes, deployed, AGAIN) in spring I want to finish getting my shop set up and get busy with the conversion on my truck. I'm taking for granted that I'll have to bend them somewhat to get them right where I want them. Would you recommend heating them, and if yes, oxyacetalene or would a mapp torch be sufficient?

The shift levers are mild steel, 1/2" cold rolled. I usually put them in a vice and slip a piece of pipe over them. For most applications you'll need an "S" bend.

My T-Case rebuild kit and twin sticks were in todays mail. I bead blasted the cases yesterday now onto the rebuild. THanks Georg! Pictures to come.

Righton Matt. Thanks for the heads-up.

Damn if it's that easy, awesome. Hopefully my work bench is heavy enough for me to bend the rods without tipping it over :D

Georg-

What is the transit time to Colorado? I can send you a FedEx label if it makes it any quicker than your standard method.

H41/Toybox/Splitcase going into my FJ80 this week - forgot to place the order sooner before Christmas week....oops :)

Thanks,

Jeff

Does anyone know the thread size on the bolt that acts as a pivot for the linkage?

I need to drill and tap a piece of steel for a custom mount and don't know what size tap to get.

Thanks,

Mark

Hey Georg, these are the pics of my gearbox/ transfer.. sorry about the exposure, yesterday was really bright and sunny today it is pouring rain. I tried to clean them up a bit to make them more visible.

For those playing at home, this is a Hilux G52 gearbox with a gear driven split case, like the fj62. Came out of a RJ70 Bundera, Wanting to get rid of the vacuum shift and add twin sticks.

Thanks for posting that picture! I've never seen that particular setup. Is that a 34 or 38 mm split case? What year is it?
The good news is that it'll be fairly easy to convert it to twin sticks and mechanical shift for the 4wd engagement. You'll need to tear the tcase apart ( but not completely off the back of the trans ) to get the gear set out so you can access the 2-4 shift rail. Remove the rail and vacuum pod, drill and tap the front case half for the 2-4 detent setup and then put it back together with the proper rail and linkage. The existing high/low lever on top of the case will be replaced as well, but the lever going thru the case can be re-used.
As for parts, you'll need:
1) twin stick kit
2) detent kit ( cup, spring and ball )
3) gasket and seal kit or rebuild kit for the split case
I have all of these items in stock, just let me know.
Thanks again!
Georg
