Late afternoon sun highlighting Scrapdaddy's campsite.

My youngest son and I rolled out of Alabama on Wednesday headed to Gunner Pool campground in the Ozark National Forest. This is nice little spot about 15 miles outside of Mountain View along Sylamore Creek. Weather was great as was the camp site.

This put us within a short drive on Thursday to meet up with the rest of the nut jobs rolling in for SSS2020.

Kind of upped my level of respect for Scraps, who else would take arguably the “nicest” pig around and drive it into a swap with that commitment.
Probably following his paper maps with Jeri telling him he was headed in the wrong direction!

I think it still needs a little work since you were passed on the interstate by an overloaded FJ60 with tired 2F.
Lol I was cruising 70mph and you came flying by me! Are you sure your speedo didn’t say 90 instead of 70?

Friday we rode the trails with the Pigs and at the end of the day I tried to shift out of low range but the shifter was flopping side to side. I drove back into camp with the FJ60 stuck in low range. Larry B trailed along behind. A local crew from Searcy, AR was in camp and I spoke with them about my problem. They jumped right on offering a tow back to their shop and for whatever else was needed. Super great bunch of guys and I cannot thank them enough. I could have split the case on the river bank lying in the gravel but having a shop eased the pain of this predicament. In one way this was a positive experience as we made new friends and this fortified the positive intangibles of the Cruiser Community.

The FJ60 was pulled across the river by a really clean BJ40 (is the owner on MUD?). We loaded on the trailer and made the trip to Searcy and dove in. The issue was vertical slop with the inner high/low shift lever allowing it to drop out of the slot in the shift fork. I had the case apart a couple of years ago but did not notice this amount of vertical movement in the high/low shift lever. We split the case and reassembled with an extra washer to add lift to the shift lever.

We had the 60 back together by late afternoon and Gavin and I met up with the Pig crew at Long Pool (thankfully in time for leftovers  from the pot luck dinner).

The Searcy guys had a couple of very clean early '70s FJ40s and a red and white pig.

Did anyone happen to find a front runner load bar mount? Apparently mine fell off on the trail, didn’t notice it till Sunday morning when packing up. I was wondering what the new rattle was I was hearing. It’s the outer piece, racket strap held on tight all the way back to Bama.

Maybe I shouldn’t aim for a rig like Scrapdaddy, I think I would have puked or cried, but if he hadn’t gone in, then he would have.......,,.............!

Yes. Someone found it. I heard them call it out on the radio.
I missed that on the radio. I’ll gladly pay shipping. Anyone??

I ran in the front most of the time so I don’t have as much dust as the rest of y’all but my rear window decided to go for broke on Thursday and having it open 4” for 178 Miles of gravel was the biggest issue.

Piggie is all clean inside. I ignored my missing front body mounts now for almost two years but this trip made me realize that’s going to have to happen for me to really enjoy rough roads in this thing.

It’s on the list....
