All I'm going to say about that predicament is... "Jeri...go ahead Ron do it, what would J Mack do!" , so I did it.![]()
So who is this? Nice looking later model! Looks like there’s been some work done on the lower 1/4’s.

Is this the one you saw?
Everybody was going around the deep mud holes, except one idiot. What was the solution to getting through?
He said he was thinking, “WWJMD?”
Is that something JMWD?![]()
Friday we rode the trails with the Pigs and at the end of the day I tried to shift out of low range but the shifter was flopping side to side. I drove back into camp with the FJ60 stuck in low range. Larry B trailed along behind. A local crew from Searcy, AR was in camp and I spoke with them about my problem. They jumped right on offering a tow back to their shop and for whatever else was needed. Super great bunch of guys and I cannot thank them enough. I could have split the case on the river bank lying in the gravel but having a shop eased the pain of this predicament. In one way this was a positive experience as we made new friends and this fortified the positive intangibles of the Cruiser Community.
The FJ60 was pulled across the river by a really clean BJ40 (is the owner on MUD?). We loaded on the trailer and made the trip to Searcy and dove in. The issue was vertical slop with the inner high/low shift lever allowing it to drop out of the slot in the shift fork. I had the case apart a couple of years ago but did not notice this amount of vertical movement in the high/low shift lever. We split the case and reassembled with an extra washer to add lift to the shift lever.
We had the 60 back together by late afternoon and Gavin and I met up with the Pig crew at Long Pool (thankfully in time for leftoversfrom the pot luck dinner).
The Searcy guys had a couple of very clean early '70s FJ40s and a red and white pig.

Just a caution about attending one of these non-events if you do not have a Pig. You may very likely leave with pig envy and a strong desire to posses one.
Experts were a little off on river prediction. Peaked at almost 27 feet today. Well up into the fields. Bet the river beds are cleared out now.
All I can say about me is, once an idiot always an idiot! Somewhere @ 1980 ?

"Swine Flu" is real! You don't even have to go to a non-event. Just get w/in about 10' of a Pig and you will get sucked in. Social distancing can't save you!
Still my hero!
About 15+/- years ago this one passed through my hands. I wanted to keep it but just couldn't. 1973 all stock (or close enough), minimal if any rust. I helped a friend sell it and it was later FZJ80'd into something else by ACC in Atlanta and repainted. It was originally an AL Cruiser. Owner moved to Colorado Springs and last I heard was having difficulty registering it in the state.

That would have been sweet to keep if things had worked out a little different!
Was that the red/white one by ACC that someone flopped?
Those dance moves Ron - legendary!
