Great pics jdhall. Did you end up removing all of your "Toyota tar"? If yes, what method did you use and was it a royal PITA to do? I've heard that getting it good and cold will help it come up clean from the sheet metal in big chunks, so next time I have my carpet out, I'll be getting some dry ice to get that crap out before laying down some Dynamat on the floor.

How do you like the Dynaliner? Can it handle getting wet alot, or does it say to avoid water?

Spook,

I just put the dynamat over the top...I it seem to have very good adhesion to the surface.

The dynaliner says it has water and oil "resistance" what ever that means. I went with that because of buddy of mine had a deal on it. It is nice at 1/2 inches thick. I was afraid it would be too thick but it turned out nice (I think). Now you could sleep in the back of the truck now with out a mattress. :D
I would say you could get the same effect from a nice carpet pad...but I like it! It is so much nicer now.
I did inside the 1/4 panels. If I get some more time I will do the "outside" of the 1/4 panels and more on the firewall. Its so hard to get up in the firewall plus I need to figure out how to dismantle some of the center console heat/air system to really get back there.

Looks great, sounds like its worth the time and money. I will definitely put that on the to do list along with new tie rod ends, OME suspension, new tires, paint, blah blah blah, ................................................................,.....................,.............,........., window molding,........., I don't think the list will ever end so I will stop it here:o

So my next question is how do you remove all that lower plastic(vents etc below the dash) to really get at the firewall. Thats my next goal but I dont want to break anything. I tried doing some searches but came back with nothing Ideas??

Damplifier Pro is half the price, and twice as good as Dynamat. But some people do prefer to pay a premium for a famous brand name.

X2...

Ok here we go again...I guess anyone who drives an Audi is an idiot because we all know that (insert car here) are twice as good for half the price...but what if said Audi driver did not pay full price. What if Audi driving buddy had him a really good deal on the car...and I know this might be hard to accept , kinda like the audi and was very familiar with working with it. Thats really the same thing that happened with said dynamat. I'm really happy you like the second skin... but please dont make assumptions about people you dont know.
I will be helping another friend of mine install second skin in his suburban soon. I do hope it is twice as good because he is going to need the help in that pig.

Oh and back to the point...how do I take apart the lower center console to soundproof behind it.

JD

jd - thanks for all the pics. It'll be a big help when I do mine!

Now, dynamat or damplifier? Hmmmmmm....

Well I did pay a ton for my Dynamat Extreme BUT its worth every cent. I have friends in the car audio biz that say Dynamat is the shiz (not me cause I'm not THAT cool!)and they're not selling it to me. Anyway in my 55 I can talk on my cell phone on the freeway with 36" swampers! I might pay a little more, but I know it works- 1 vote for Dynamat Extreme

That looked awesome; however, when I replace my Seats the the "Procar Elite" I will probably have LineX or another brand sprayed because I want the no hassle clean up when off roading, dogs, camping, Etc. Your truck looks great and I'm sure it cuts the noise expediential.

Boerboel - check out the sprayable dampener from SS - Spectrum. May be a good combo under line-x or their Liner they sell. Give them a call if you are curious about this combo (i am even though I'm not lining my truck) - talk to Ant the owner. He's great to talk to and will let you know all sorts of options.

GL!

Thanks Sl33py, I will.

anyone used his material yet?

Lots and lots of it! I'm almost done with my Damplifier Pro install. Started cutting and placing my Luxury Liner Pro in the back.

Then i pulled the headliner and will be spraying spectrum on the roof to dampen, with LLP adhered to finish it off.
