Greasing bearings and replacing diff oil this morning. I don’t know if I have the confidence as a YouTube certified mechanic to install the lunchbox locker I got from @mattressking last year. Seems like I might be risking the whole trip if I do it wrong. I do a lot of things wrong the first time. : )

I like to do things wrong two or three times in a row myself that way I know it’s right

Most of them are pretty straightforward to install. They're nice to have on the trail for sure but my 40 is open/open and got around fine out there. I wouldn't worry about it. If you drive it on the street much, an lunchbox locker (especially in a swb with a stick) is annoying at best. I just swapped out the one in my 62 last week, I forgot how much nicer it drives without it after all these years.

Man, I did not know this was going to be a show and shine event! Some good looking rigs. I am finishing up a few items and Lynchburg Lemonade will be ready to load. Tow rig and trailer checked out ok today.

"Camp Spot needed". Just reaching out to see if anyone has room for an single occupied 80. I'll be traveling from the central coast of California. I expect to arrive at the latest Tuesday. I'm open to suggestions as well. I can camp out of my rig/ground tent or if there's room I can share space in the annex of my RTT. And trailer.

Four days to go, rear brake job, why not? It’s no last minute engine swap, but it’ll keep me busy.

I think you commented on one of my instagram posts? Of Richards truck.

Yeah Broski said I should post up on here and ask and see if anyone has enough or extra room to take me in.😌

Well, I think I'm 95% ready.
  • New fan clutch
  • New clutch pressure plate
  • Rebuilt rear end including all new brakes, regeared to 4.11 with new locker
  • Knuckle rebuild, regear and locker install in front
  • Ripped out all the relays and wiring for aux stuff and put in a knock off switch pro panel
  • Installed ARB compressor
  • Cut out the Dynomax super turbo (too loud/boomy on highway) and reworked the exhaust to fit a Walker Quiet flow for a Silverado
  • Changed fluids/greased everything
  • Recharged AC
  • Hooked up reverse lights (finally)
  • Fixed a loose bulb in turn signal
  • New taller front bump stops
  • New master cylinder
Still want to put a 180 deg thermostat in it, and the brakes were really soft pulling out of the shop tonight. Will have to dig into that, need to bleed them again. Other than that, I think we're ready to roll.
