Randy …. it’s Lasagne not Peking Duck
I’ve checked and that’s available in my state as well as “DUCK OFF”I think I figured out a vanity plate....
"NO DUCK"
I only hear it at 60-65 MPH and let off the gas and the drive train is slack, if there's back pressure I don't hear it either.@Broski whats the noise?

I put my good used spare drive shaft in no change.
Now I'm thinking transfer case but there so dam bulletproof on a 80
Just went through front third Last year, so both thirds checked and goodI have the same noise in my 80.
On power, nothing
Off power/driven, nothing
Neutral load, sad sounds.
I was thinking t case as well.
Drive line mechanic buddy thinks it might be front pinion bearing.

Been chasing the noise for over a year now
I have a brand new DC front drive shaft and less then 3" of lift with 4" of castor correction.I have a 4" lift. Could be front drive shaft angle too.
As I'm sure you know the OEM locker is totally different, but yes it was opened up and everything is good !Did you crack open the locker and look inside ? My Detroit made bad sounds it had a few cracked teeth inside . you may have wear ?/
I have the same problem, but it’s worse than yours it sounds like. I’ve replaced/rebuilt everything. Angles are good. All that’s left is the T-case. I replaced the rear output bearing (since it’s quick and easy) so that’s ruled out too. The issue isn’t there if I drive it in FWD with rear driveshaft removed. I’ve put up with it for years at this point, but it really sucks coasting down those long grades out west.I only hear it at 60-65 MPH and let off the gas and the drive train is slack, if there's back pressure I don't hear it either.
