80s with tall lifts and uncorrected front caster make for some angry front DSs. This is well-documented in the 80 section - as are the solutions.

HF2As have a little output shaft wobble at slack throttle due to no torque going through the center diff. This increases with age as the spiders wear in, as the center diff output gears are what locates the "free end" of the output shafts. Putting some torque in it causes everything to tighten-up and center-up. Part time trucks see this to a lesser degree as the worn spiders get replaced with fresh, solid parts that tighten everything up.

Time to go part-time @Broski!
Great description. I’m guessing mine is just wore out bearings (370k mi) as I’m part time and it was converted by welding the center diff.

A testament to how well built they are.

I have a brand new DC front drive shaft and less then 3" of lift with 4" of castor correction.

As I'm sure you know the OEM locker is totally different, but yes it was opened up and everything is good !
s*** I must need new glasses I thought it was a Detroit hahaha.

Can't say enough good things about Cruiser Outfitters ! Placed my order Thursday at 4pm Parts showed up Saturday morning.
Thanks @cruiseroutfit

I’m in! Can’t wait to see you all!
Hey, Windowlicker, It's Valerie Price...I'm trying to respond to you regarding carpet for your 80. It says you've reached your maximum allowed inbox limits. You might need to update your membership status? Maybe? Sorry to hop in this thread but my husband suggested I might be able to reach you. Didn't want you to think I wasn't responding.

Never fails, every SAS event something always breaks on my 60. Well I think I am finally ahead of the curve. I'm in the same noise boat as @Broski By the looks of it.

This is actually all good news though. I paid all that money for a dual ARB air pump. Might as well hook something else to it while I am visiting the area....

@Manitou Decline I'm in that "is this an exhaust leak or the lower end of my 2F about to blow up?" stage of SAS7 prep.

Dobinsons HZJ75 front springs are on the way for my shackle-reversed 60, so I have that work to look forward to. Definitely need to get a knuckle job done to address the likely broken front right axle, too. Oh and new shocks - need to find a ramp around Denver so I can flex & measure after the 75 springs are on.

Just dump it on side again. You'll never notice the sound driving home without a windshield.

If I dump it again, I will be forever be a black sheep in the 60 community for ruining a truly rust free factory tub.

Dropped off my diff to have it rebuilt and air locker install by the best diff guy in town. Going to Telluride in a couple weeks and I got other things to work on. We took it apart already to see why the pinion ate itself. No preload was on the ring bearings. We also didn't find a crush sleeve for the pinion.

Agree, yep. Kurt had me rolling the trail with an issue on the trail in minutes. So fecking happy and pleased.
He/they knows Yoytas like few IMHO.

I was planning on just tying a note to the dog.
Then again, she is like a walking meal. Probably tastes better than marmot too.
I'll bring a pen and paper just in case.

Message in a bottle is more of a ship thing I think.

Speaking of technology, I'm going to need somebody to show me how to run the map app. On-X is the one recommended to me? Probably here?
I think I've reached the age where technology frightens and confuses me. 😆

One of the easier ones to Run. You’ll like it

Cotrex is awesome for anything Colorado related. Its the Colorado state map that has just about everything trail related, and is 100% free and works super well offline.

Update @Manitou Decline : The rod-knock-sounding noise is coming from the flywheel/clutch/pressure plate area. I think it's TO bearing or pilot bearing. Not ideal, but not as horrible as a rod knock. I'm back in! haha
