Kay and I were on our way to the Grand Canyon last spring and spotted two FJ40s ahead of us heading west on I-40 in western New Mexico. Guess who was riding in this one.

I’d know that 40 anywhere.;)

Anyone like festive themed get together’s? (socially distanced and masked)

The WA crew was taking about hosting a festive get together. So Tuesday night bring your Hawaiian Shirts and festive garb, your Mai Tai’s Flip Flops and Hawaiian themed potluck food and come down to campsite 55a?

There will be a prize for best dressed. And best themed cocktail.

Hope to see some new and old faces.

Am I the only crazy mother that’s almost completely packed already? Put the food in the fridge, put the tent poles on the roof and I’m about ready to go!👍🎯

2 day drive for us, pulling out Friday morning...pulling in Saturday afternoon.😎

I thought I was the crazy mother for having everything out on the kitchen table last week ready to go. Thought about plugging in the fridge and packing it, lol, glad to hear I was not the only one. I think I’m gonna prepare some meals, vacuum pack them and freeze them. That way we have easy cooking, just boil water and drop the bag in the pot and poof, dinner! We’ll see...
happy packing and safe travels @John McVicker and we’ll see ya on Sunday afternoon, neighbor!

Not packing quite yet. Last minute PMs and fluid checks. See you guys about this time next week.

Looks like you'll have to move a few items out of the way so you can hang the SAS #4 banner when you get home.

We centered year one on the wall and I haven't moved it down yet. May have to double up starting on the far south corner. We had no idea SAS would become what it is today.
Truly humbling to have friends from all over this great country want to hang out for a week on the mountains together.

What’s the story on the 2 other rigs...? I clearly need to pay better attention.

The 40 is a full restore I am doing for a friend. The 55 is getting its horribly engineered springover hack job replaced with a OME kit and a correct rear axle. It will get 33 x 10.5s when done. @CenTXFJ60 did a 12HT/ h55 split case swap on this. It's a cool 55.

2-day drive for us too, and I haven't packed a damn thing yet! Chasing problems with my new 2nd battery system, but otherwise the truck is ready to roll. Just have to get...well everything else done. We'll be leaving early Saturday morning, getting there late Sunday evening.

Lots of stuff going on these last few days.

Finally got the spare 35" tire out of the cabin thanks to one of @4x4labs kits (looks sharp, good work, Luke). That's the last test fit. Paint has it looking even better. I'm countless odds and end projects and two bumpers in with an old Lincoln tombstone. Any future big project will be on a MIG. Hard headed and cheap as I may be...I'm not totally stupid.

Jess decided she wanted to do all the maintenance herself before setting off so Shop 101 commenced. Oil, ATF, and coolant all got newness thrown at 'em (diffs and tcase got theirs when I put in the 4.88s last month). Boss lady, Penny, kept us and all the passersby in line.

Last project before departure should be the platform for a rest stop crash pad. See yall in a week!

I enjoyed this vid of Richie's 80 over Imogene.

Spare tire carrier is on, patched the flat spare tire, reassembled the dash pads, and worked on some firewall insulation and crude floor mats from leftover roofing rubber material. The list is getting shorter. I drove the 40 yesterday. Got all the way to town and the two guys at the tire shop that also does state inspections had decided to call it a day and wouldn't be bothered to get out of their chairs even though I called ahead 🙄. I have some wiring to do, need to flush the cooling system again, play with my throttle linkage and the governer a bit (it was hitting a wall at 1,900 rpm, which was fine at 67 mph, but some more legs gear to gear will be nice), install the pyro and boost gauges that USPS left in their car instead of delivering yesterday, and probably a ton more.

Anyone doing any fishing during this trip? I might go out one day for some extremely amateur fishing.

Definitely. We'll be fishing our way in to ouray once we get into the mountains. I'm sure I could be talked into a trip up to silvejack or other nearby water as well.
