The holes do not have captive nuts and aren’t threaded.
suggestions?

I have no idea how good that rivnut kit is. But for the limited use we need (and I'll be doing the same as you in a few more weeks) how bad is it?
Rivnuts are a similar to a pop-rivet that has a threaded hole in the middle.

I've used Rivnuts, Nutcerts, and other similar products by different names. They can be steel, aluminum, and possibly even stainless steel. They work great with the tool. I have also made due with a bolt, couple nuts, washers, and a couple wrenches in a pinch.

I received my TROA soft top and am very happy with the product. Instructions were not included which isn’t a big deal but will likely add time to the install.
I admit that I am asking this question without having looked. I don’t believe my window frame has captive nuts to attach the soft top window. The seven holes are there. If it doesn’t have captive nuts how should I attach.
Tap the holes? None of the hardware included is self tapping.
Primer starts today
I believe most people would install rivnuts in the appropriate location to attach the windshield channel.

Personally, I dont think I'd like rivnuts going around the tubs top raised edge. I think they would look bad on the inside of the tub rail. I think Id prefer either trying to tap the holes, or use short phillips pan or counter sunk hd or button head socket caps screws just long enuff so the bolt threads don't extend much past the nut on the inside, then some sort of jam/thin nut on the inside.

I'm pretty sure we're talking only about the windshield frame, not the tub rail.

You wouldn't need a blind fixture there, imo.

Yes…we are discussing the windshield frame.

yeah I beleive the tubs usually already have holes drilled for the little twist lock things. And they have a nut that holds them in.

Used 6mm rivnuts from the kit above to attach the window channel. It worked perfectly. I practiced on an old tag to make sure I knew what I was doing. A 23/64 (9.1mm) drill bit made holes just right. RTV on the rivnut.

Has anyone installed the twist lock grommets themselves? Any tips/tricks? I was going to take it to an upholstery shop but I'm considering just working it myself over the weekend.

Heritage Cruisers has the brackets.
Thanks for that. I recalled seeing them somewhere earlier, but couldn't remember where.

I went ahead and got the footman loops from them and declined to order the base brackets, because those are for appearance only as far as I can figure out.

@whisky …I’ll be installing the twist turnbuckle fasteners soon. Will let you know what I learn.
For everyone else….There are some issues with the bows from TROA. Mounting holes need adjusting. Metal needs massaging or cut out, etc. I have not made it to the soft top yet.
Will post a comprehensive assessment when I am finished.
