Guess it all depends on your trail, your gears and your determination....

I cant seem to keep a clutch in my truck for more than a month. I am wheeling the absolute crap out of it.

I want to go with a high end brand, but not super crazy like ceramic non slippable disc.

i have been using regular hippy stuff like LUK VALEO and NAPA's CRAPA...

seems like they never last.

im aiming for dual friction surface discs with 1600lbs pressure plates.
what unit you all running and how hard do you drive it??

The napa part numbers are the same as the made in china Zoom over at advanced...

I'm finding all sorts of part #'s that offer vary little difference even in retailer!

Well, I guess the global market cat's outta the bag!

Check out the part numbers of two separate master cylinders, claimed to be made by two different manufacturers, from two different parts suppliers...

Howdy! Ya ever consider OEM? I don't beat the snot out of mine, but it has 204,000 on the original. Might need to adjust your driving style. You can drive really hard without killing your clutch. John

Centerforce Dual Friction, pricey guy but it takes a beating. I trashed one two years ago, got rust on my flywheel and did not address it in a timely fasiond. Even still it ran a year that way until it was toast :hillbilly:.

if you go with a centerforce II or dual friction, you master and slave will not last long.
downy used to have a pressure guide on there site, and a centerforce I was right at the limit.

is jim still on here?

a lot of guys argue with me, and with my trucks i could not tell you if they were the stock clutch or not, but they would slip like there was no tomorrow going up steep grades, while off-roading, my buddys truck he bought brand new, and had a stock from factory clutch, and his did the same thing, and once i put that centerforce in, my clutch did not slip.

I used to go through clutches untill I got 5.29 grears. Then after installing 4.7 crawler gears in my t-case it's even better on the clutch. I don't know what you run for tires and gears but with 35s and 5.29 gears OEM or decent quality OEM style replacement clutches have been working just fine with lots of really hard wheeling.

We ordered some clutches from Napa for our Celicas last year and the were Nippon made in japan at about half the price of a OEM clutch. The last few napa clutches I've put into my 4x4 Toyotas have been working just fine.

I had a master failure due to contamination but no pressure failures. Factory slave too, daily driven, aggressive off road at speed and in the rocks.

Hydraulic systems are tough stuff, if a human can still operate the pedal I doubt that the system is being overly stressed. Personally I worry more about the bracket flex problems some people see.

Sounds like perhaps either an adjustment problem or you're riding the clutch. Even a cheapy should be lasting you longer than a month. If you're not riding the clutch, I'd go through and make sure that everything is adjusted properly.

i can tell you i was not riding my clutch, i do not know the exact angle of the one hill that gave my and him the stinky clutch, i can say we were looking at sky for about 100 yards, and i was in low, i do not have dual transfers though, but since i put in the centerforceI i have went up the same hill many times with no slippage.

Thanks fort the guide fellas.

I looked intop centerforce. i could not not get detailed enuff specs on the various setups they offerf, and it was overall about 150 bucks more than what im willing to pay.

i am running a G54 with a turbo flywheel on the back of my 89 22RE.
so i was able to order marlins heavy dudy kit that has a pressureplate holding ft/lbs of 1800 :grinpimp:

that was $245 (express delivery) marlin does kinda suck at shipping stuff. (my buddy ordered the same thing thursday the second of this month and hasnt seen it so scram punk :D )

so i will report back after CRUIZIN THE WOODS and let u know what up
I hope you make it up here JEROD!!!

i installed that 1800 pound turbo clutch on my truck.

it feels the same as far as pedal goes but it hooks up really good.

i was pissed when i opened the box. the disc is korean made, marlin said its all jap made. LIES!!!!

oh well. it works real good and hooks up so well.

next time when i sell my other kidney ill have enuff for the 4.7 crawler gears oooohhh yeeahhhh!!

this POS lasted three runs

this ones a VALEO

Jesus I can smell that across the internets. I'll bet you're tired of doing clutches.

I hate not being able to shift but is an auto in your thoughts? Could work out better in mad rocks.
