So the 21" one is the one with out the radio box? It still has the cup holders tho right? Will the 21" work with an Auto and retaining the cup holders?

Looks like a great alternative to the Tuffy.

Yep! works like a charm, right to the stock mounts. I did need to drill four holes.

well........we'll see if it works when I get it lol too late to order the other version

Dont worry, it will work, but you'll need to make custom mounts.

If I were you, I'd get a 6"x10" plate, maybe 1/4" thick.

Use the stock for a pattern, drill holes, mount the plate, center the smittybilt, mark the holes, drill and tap. Should work well, and take about 1 hour.

A 6x1mm tap with a 5mm drill(#8)bit should work well.

Cool thanks, I'll give it a go when I get in and have the car and the console together. Why can't this one be drilled to fit stock mounts? Just curious, I trust your word, just having a hard time getting a mental picture.

I may just order the shorter version and have an extra lol Is your's the denim black color? part #31715?

I'm only guessing, but I believe if the cup holder is touching the shifter, the main compartment will not clear the front stock mounts. You need 9" hole to hole, inside the main(hold down) compartment. On the short version, I've got about 1/4" of extra space.

If I get on an overtime job, soon, I may buy the Tuffy, as having the radio close to the amps(under seats) would really make for a nice clean install.:D

I'm not sure of the part #. It is the short black version, as 4 wheel parts only stocked black. I was looking for grey, as to help with heat in the sun.;)

Thanks! hard to justify $300 bones, but I just spend almost $200 if I order the short version too lol

So, I got my Smittybilt console with stereo pocket today. It fits great and will make an awesome armrest.

BUT, It seems like I am going to have to drill new mounting holes in the old mounting brackets. Is this correct or am I just missing something ??

Thanks in advance !!

I drilled new holes in the console and I used the other piece that comes with the console as a switch console for my lights and lockers.

note - this is the console without the radio slot. The one with the slot will not fit in a 62.

Smittybilt Console FJ62

Was kicking around which console to get for a long time... SLCFJ62's cutting inspired me to swing by 4wheel parts to see if they had a 'no pocket' model in stock, they did so I gave it a go...

Rear heater mod inspired by the crafty work of SLCFJ62 (I used a dremel)...

Mounted the rear heater switch on the driver's side...

I cut a tab that can be bent in the bottom of the console, this allows the switch assembly to pass through without leaving a large hole. I cut a small notch on the tab to allow the wires to pass through... Now I just need to protect the switch/wires.:hhmm:

The console seems durable, is a comfortable armrest for both passenger and driver and is relatively cheap. Another vote for the smittybilt console.

Just ordered mine from Amazon. $75 and free shipping.

I couldn't see paying $250 for the CCOT console. Long term the metal style cup holders are probably more durable, can add those later.

My stereo slot has been all buggered up by the PO. Mounting it in the console is going to be much easier.

Yep, I had to jump on this today as well. Does not make sense to spend the cash for the tuffy.

I ended up getting the short one and the one with the cd player holder. Whichever I don't use I'll post up here for sale shortly. I'll beat amazons price ;)

I like how you put that switch in there. It doesn't get in your way ever on the side? Good idea.

Got the radio slot model, mounted the CB in there. Makes a great arm rest for long drives. Had to remove the cup holders to fit with my B&M shifter but I'm going to relocate the cup holder alongside the shifter base. Easy to mount, looks good and holds lots of stuff securely.

Looks good man. Still debating on either this or the VDP one that quadratec sells.

I just swaped min out cause the cut holders sucked ... the smitty non-radio unit rocks
