Ron every time you post a picture it makes me excited and depressed all at the same time. Such rediculously awesome detail you spend makes me want to do mine all the same. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks Npulver, we have a long way to go! :) I get pumped, reading all the builds going on. We have a good group.

Thanks Nuclearlemon, I'll have to order a bunch of them. I don't like to bounce around, but I have to do something while waiting for other parts to arrive.

While I learn about GM fuel line fittings and what not to buy, I had some time to kill. Thought I'd get the hood and tailgate ready for paint.

I wanted to do something about the rust that happens at the front of the hood and the bottom of the tailgate. Bought some more of Eastwood's Internal Frame Coating. I used it on my frame and liked how it worked, so I sprayed inside all the seams and areas where moisture sits. After that dried I got out the Lizard Skin :D. Two coats Sound Control and two coats Ceramic Insulation. The tailgate is only getting the sound control.

Had the body shop guys out to look at the body. They're talking me into one those 10 grand paint jobs. I thought it was an ok paint job, but they pointed out alot of waves in the metal that need attention. I just want it nice, one time, then leave it alone.

Anyway, taped off the louvers and let it have it. I believe we'll paint over the Lizard Skin, not sure if the black would hold the heat anymore than white. We'll see.

Pictures!

When your done Ron, im sending mine to you! LOL

you're gunn a hafta git in line! Ron, Don't let those paint huffers rob you, we all know you can do it just as well as they can/would.....besides, the paint is only there to keep the rust off;)

Lambcrusher,

I know you're right, BUT it sure would be nice to have a top shelf paint job, just once in my life. Then it can fade, get scratched and grow a " patina ". At least it will look good for awhile.

your rig does warrant the expense;), if you have it in the budg, then do it. there are but a few that have received the attention they deserve...your qualifies IMNSHO my only question now is, when ya gunna swap a 2F in thar?:hillbilly:

Tucker,

I thought so, too. It was painted @ 5 years before I bought it and never seen the road. But shop abuse and just poor, wavy metal in the doors, etc makes it look like a repainted trail rig. That would be fine, if it were, but what would they think at the mall. :) and the fact I'm nuts!

Pablo,

All we have is the Dittmer Diner and them boys would have alot to say if I pulled up in anything PINK! If you know what I mean.

I spent two days on the tractor, cutting hay and trying to think of what to use instead of the rubber flaps, that cover the rear body mounts. Lambcrusher came up with a good one...Belting. I have some laying around and it worked good. Thanks Man! When the body gets bolted down, I'll silicone and screw them down. 10/32 nutserts and SS allen heads. :)

Also, got the tailgate finished and waiting on plating. Can't say enough about that Lizard Skin. Night and Day between an empty shell and the sprayed one. Not to mention how it seals up all the seams.

Fuel line fittings are " in the mail ". After two tries, I should have the right stuff coming.

Moving along

Ron, again your attention to detail is above and beyond. It is AMAZING. You have all of us PIG owners wondering if we should do a full Resto - Mod or just get our PIGS running. I know me personally keep going back and forth on which direction. Ron OUTSTANDING JOB keep us posted and keep up the Great work.

p.s. 10gs on paint! You can do a better job yourself. My change. AWESOME Ron thanks for 1 of the best build threads ever.

Thanks Bob.

Thanks Bob,

I'd like to get mine running, too! I just keep finding things to do. When I started on this, I had no idea it would get this involved, but I'm having a ball, so what the heck.

better keep an eye out for the next "hobby", you're not going to have anything to fix on this one for a while before too much longer

Lambcrusher,

That's something I have plenty of ( Hobbies ) Goats, Llamas, Grandkids, they all eat too much. At least I sleep good.

As I go through the tailgate motor, cleaning, greasing and replacing, I found a broken piece. One of the brass bushings, that hold the worm gear, was cracked all around the lip.

There must be alot of torque from that motor, in order to do that. I have another motor in the 69's tailgate, hope they look better.

I'm useing a synthetic grease, called Super Lube. I use it on alot of things. It doesn't dry out or gum up. Before I cleaned up the gears, they had caked on grease, not doing anything. This stuff doesn't melt or harden over time.

Remember, if anyone needs that plastic gear, I'll send it to them.
