Had to part ways with Ruff Stuff today, hired them to build an FF axle for me, but after two months and no progress I called Diamond Axles. They are picking up the ball and getting me the axle. I want a direct replacement for the FJ60 axle width wise and be a Full Float with disc brakes and a E brake included. It will be all Toyota parts with RVC shafts. Moving forward I got a VSS from Jags That Run and got it mounted, need to wire it up. I'm not sure which pin it is , but I'll leave that up to the computer tuner guy.

Got to keep moving Pigfest is coming! :)

Bob,

My wife doesn't read my build thread, so we're good. :) For the whole axle, shafts, brakes, e-brake and cable, everything except my third member with the ARB, $3800. A lot of money, but I'm so far down the rabbit hole now might as well keep going.

that's an investment. You going to use 80 series rear disc brakes? (work very good...)

Good question, with everything being said today, I believe he said 4runner disc with the e-brake work better than the 80 stuff. To be honest, I just assumed I'd be losing the e-brake and have to go to a line lock brake. They're going to send me all the information later, it will be quite the axle, far more than I need, but what the hell.

Very interested if they go with the 4 runner bits, that's is my current plan for rear disks on a 60 axle, but have not done enough research yet....

Nothing more frustrating than being a willing customer only to be left hanging.

During the conversation we had, Front Range (Brian) said he likes the 4 runner brakes better than the 80 stuff, my opinion...I know squat about either one, so I'm trusting him to guide. We'll find out!

they're prolly right about the even newer 4runner brakes. Toyota rear disc axles have drum ebrakes built into their discs, and work very well. with the 4runner boooster and master, stock fj55 front disc/calipers, and rear fzj80 brakes, I bet I could prolly lock all 4 wheels on the pig from a full throttle sprint, even with 285/75/16 muds- not that I'd want to...

I have....
T100 master
Tacoma booster
FJ60 front axle with 4runner calipers and rotors
and then there's the rear axle mess...

you can't loose...

Wow, maybe I bought the last set. Maybe we can call SOR to make another run.

VSS=vehicle speed sensor. It tells the computer how fast it's going. better fuel economy and when the a/c is running, keeps the motor from dying at idle. That was a simplified explanation, but the best I got. :)

While waiting for my FF Diamond axle to be built, I took the SF axle apart. Ever since I got a case of stretchy nuts, the rear axle has been making noise. I found one of the problems today. These are Poly Performance axles and I don't know the chain of events that led to this failure, but here it is. I'm going to take the pumpkin to a pro to check everything and replace what's bad.

Still waiting on the FF axle, but I've been knocking out my punch list so we'll be ready for the pig fest. Finally got my skid plate done for the fuel tank. I took some hard hits at Cruise Moab last year, so hopefully 3/16 plate steel holds up. Another important one, changed out the springs and detent balls on my split case. The spring is stiffer and holds the transfer case in the selected gear better, no popping out on the trail. Getting a lot of the little things fixed that bugged me since finishing it, so hopefully a new and improved pig will roll out of the shop this Spring.

We are really looking forward to hitting the road and do some camping this year, first stop Pig Fest!
