That's exactly why I did that, also if I wanted to wash the floor I don't have to worry about getting the sheet rock wet. Don't do it very often but just in case I do.

If your shop turns into a paint shop a quick hose down minimizes the dust- but you probably know that- I figured that one out too late on my first paint job attempt!

Ya I have painted a couple in my garage in the past and water on the floor is a good way to keep down the dust. I try and get to a booth however now I am in a different location I have to reestablish those relationships. What I have planned when I get to that point I will install a fastening system so I can put up some curtains to make a booth. On one end I will have filters and on the other a fan to suck out the paint to the outside . Plenty of examples have been shared here and there but will need to do at least 2 more paint jobs in the future on the projects I have in the hopper.

Well here it sets walls and roof inspection done waiting on the rain. Tomorrow morning , Saturday we will start the roof and today the Hardy board siding will start to go up, keep plunking along. I live in Northern California and the ElNino is starting to show up with rain about every other day we sure need it but it is slowing me down may be spring before I get it painted, life is good...

If the rain wasn't coming every other day I might of had this up in about 2 weeks we just finished the 5th working day on the building, I had about 3-4 days in the foundation and prep work, rain again along with the mud. Today we got the trim up it was tedious Hardy board is a tough cement product not very forgiving. Tomorrow the roofer comes to felt and put gutters on the roof, he cant get back for a week but will have the shingles done in one day when he comes back, so it will be water tight after tomorrow. Then sunday we get hit with a big storm then clear first half of the week. Understand you guys up in Washington are getting hit hard also. The end result is we need the water so I will have to be understanding. siding starts Monday morning should have it sided outside 2 days lets see if I am right

All trimmed out man door is in along with the 2 side windows. A little more vapor barrier, siding Monday rain permitting once the roof is on in comes sparky for the electric...

That is looking good! Just to help me, which way does the garage door opening face?

I'm in the Albany, OR area, and yes it has been WET this past week. Not sure how many inches of rain we've had here in the past week, but it has been a lot. Creeks and ditches are running full. The Santiam River in Jefferson has more water in it than I've seen in over a year, maybe two years.

Hope you can finish getting it dried in real soon.

Understand you guys up in Washington are getting hit hard also.

Weather happens, and it never goes as fast as we wish - so I'm not retracting my compliment.

As for the weather up here, it really is much ado about nothing - blowing and rain are pretty much guaranteed, what seems to have set folks off this year is that we've had 3, even 4, years of pretty mild weather so this seems like a big deal. It's not. Of course, I'm a bit touched in the head - when the weather turns bad, I go out and rescue people I don't know for free... so perhaps I'm not the right person to be opining on the weather. I look forward to wild weather because it means I get to go out and do what I love and train to do all year.

Woke up at this ungodly hour wide awake. Here ya go guys, cannon ya it would be good to dry out but I don't want to stop the rain gods we need it so bad it will come in time. 2 kids live in Portland and haven't floated away yet. Buick that would be fun to go out and help I did that when I lived in the foot hills getting people out of the snow. However enjoying the better weather down in the valley not as bad and easier to work in. This time gives me an opportunity to plan out the layout so I can get it just right. Once you get into a shop no change happens, to busy working. Forgot to add that the garage door is pointing west ...

We made progress today as the rain stayed away. The roofer put down felt to hold us if it rains and will return Saturday to finish with the shingles. The side with the windows took some time cutting around them along with the man door. Finally when we got to the back side started flying . Tomorrow is suppose to be another rainless day if so good more work.

so the guys can do there thing, fingers crossed...

While I have been building my new shop I have also been busy collecting parts for this build as well as the re-engine on my fj 45.
I now have two Mercedes 606 Diesel engines to add to the work load of the builds. Both will have M-IP injection, with the1965-45 being first to get a new heart.
These 606 you see in the pics just got here from England, only 47 k documented miles so it should be good to go W/O much help.
The 606 engines are a great choice and are easily modified to be drunk with power and high fuel milage (thinking 30 MPG)
My friend Ron at North West Diesel Off-Road will be doing the surgery to make this happen. We have been friends for 20 years and he has had plenty of experience with these types of modifications to make it a top drawer project when it is all said and done. He has 50 years in the trenches with building, modifying, creating magic with all kinds and aspects of vehicle building. I will keep my mud friends in the loop on this one as well as the 40-45 as I go along.

Real easy to kick it up to 225 by larger Pistons in the IP 7.5 and put a Alda valve on to regulate the rack in the pump along with the boost. These 606 are just power houses with big turbos and 8 mm slugs in the IP easy 350HP.

I learned a bunch on this one it was higher than higher milage units. This only had 47 K miles. I worked with a guy in the uk and after the fact got a broker for my end. Depending on availability you can do it for $ 3k would have about 130 k on the clock and that is not much for a diesel. The 606 was only imported into the US for 2 years 98-99 and they are getting hard to find with low miles. About the same price but 200k miles or higher is common.
