Havent had time to do the master cylinder yet, but tonight I bolted in a 80 series dual diaphram booster, much more powerful brakes!! Need to adjust the rears, they lock up very easily on the road with 35''s now

Great Upgrade!

Too many people here do the same MOD in the BJ series, but in the LJ series use a Hilux / 4Runner BRAKE Master Cylinder...

... congrats Hulsty

Hmmmm.. interesting Hulsty..

Might be a future mod methinks.

After a weekend driving with the new booster, it is FANTASTIC! the brake pedal is light and the brakes powerful!

A whole bunch of pics from the trip we just did.

Mt Skene Trip 2012!!

Bit of snow about, stayed at Crows hut, many cans were had. On the friday thought we would do a short loop in the reverse of what we did it last year, ended up taking as 13 hours, winching, carnage repairs, massive track clearing and aqua chainsawing. For the friday we thought we would take it easy and just do the Barkley River Jeep track, got to the bottom and the Central Highlands 4x4 club were coming down, took them ~45mins to get down, they had to winch down too. They seemed to think we had no idea about the track and that I wouldnt be able to drive up it etc etc, anyway challenged them to a race, first to the summit of Mt Skene, me up the jeep track, them around the main roads. Took me a lazy 13mins to the summit from the bottom, easily beating them to the summit by at least half an hour.

This river crossing had been blocked by many huge trees over hanging the river in many directions, Parks etc had been though and sign posted onto the trees blocking the track which way the track went, but didnt clear them. Took us about two hours to clear it.

Good to see the freezer jacket getting a workout!

GREAT photos...The guy in the black t-shirt standing in the river chainsawing...He's cutting a sweet hollow log...Great fun sitting around one of those stood on end and burning in a fire ring....

Hulsty do you still have the stock early 70 series steering wheel in?

Yeah I do, also have a later model smaller wheel, but its tan/brown so not using it. I prefer the larger wheel, makes turning slightly easier when down to 8psi on the big tyres, I can be a very busy wheel man at times, I want a faster ratio steering box and more pressure/flow from the pump.

Car is gonna be off the road for a little while now, summer is here. Broke the FRP top so either need a new one or fix mine (anyone in melbourne have one cheap? ) Fixing some panel damage, re-work my sliders, check the BEB and fix some oil leaks, rebuild winch and some other stuff. Need to finish building my garage too.

Also chasing 60 series rear sway bar, 80 series bump stops and have been half thinking about a rolling 80 series chassis.....

So have you trial-fitted the smaller dia. to see if it fits and the horn works etc? I like the big wheel but the damn thing blocks off the a/c vents.

More flow from the pump would be superb, I agree.

Nice mate - thank you.

Thought I posted these photos up, but on a trip back in November last year doing my favorite trip I broke the middy again. Did the track, ARB compressor died again and due to low tyre pressures on the out track the rims slide in the sidewalls of the tyre and I hit a tree..... The damage is worse than the pics, cracks and tearing much lower, split from the inside etc etc, no luck finding a replacement roof.

Soooo luckily one of my mates is a fiberglass man, few beers later.... This is only the first stage to get it water proof for easter. Still need to do the internal repairs and he wants to rub the outside back, get the shape spot on and colour/texture match it, but I probably wont worry as you can barely notice it anyway.
