And you bought the inserts from Shane? The plugs should be under the console right?

oh, and the switches don't fit the wiring? Am I catching up?

Ok, I'll take a pic of the wiring from the seat inserts I have if that helps? I bought them from Shane, and Haven't installed them yet.
It won't be until Tuesday tho.

Anyone ever tried to get the OEM heater elements?

I just installed Shane's heaters with OEM switches. PM me if you want the details (pics and schematics)

Why don't you just post em here?

Might need to have 10 posts before posting pics though, unless .... paid for a membership already.

I used the little round switches that came with the heater kit, drilled a hole in the seat adjustment panel on the side of the seat and put it there. Worked fine:meh:

I wish it could be that easy.. but I suffer from OCD with re to factory switches and stuff.
I have the Atlas heaters and a set of 80 series heated seat switches ready to go.
Dave at Japan 4x4 is the man for those.. about $50 ea IIRC.
Anyone want to start a support group?

Please as I am asked frequently, and my answer is I have no clue as I can't wire anything, and I mean nothing. I have them in my 100 and they dont work, cause I don't know how to wire them/

So if it is something I can get into a PDF that would be way cool!

I have a couple of sets of Toyota OEM the black seat heater switches, non-LC, I'd let go for $60 for one set (2 switches) $50 for the other as one rocker is a little sticky (could probably be taken apart and loosened up). PM me if interested.

Thanks to all for the great write-ups on leather and seat heater installs.

I thought I’d do my part by adding a few lessons learned on the seatbacks, seat heaters, and OEM seat heater switches/wiring configured to work with Shane’s seat heaters.

First, I went with Shane’s two-tone brown and tan. Here are a few pics of the finished seats (3 of 4 done so far). I took the pics at night with only a flash for illumination. This makes the differences in color between the leather kit and the OEM colors more pronounced than it really is – under normal lighting the difference is not very noticeable.

Easiest part first: the seat backs

First: read carefully the write-up from MrOffshore – good tips on the seatbacks here.

I wanted to replace the bungee on the seatback net pockets. Like everyone else’s, mine lost their elasticity long ago. I had temporarily solved the problem with cord locks.

After hours of searching on Google, as well as trips to fabric stores sporting goods stores, I could not find 3mm brown bungee.

I did find 3mm white bungee at the fabric store as well as brown polyester dye

Followed the instructions and in 20 minutes my white bungee was dark brown. Actually it turned a little too dark. Suggestion is to buy about 5 times as much bungee as you need (it is very cheap), dunk it all in the dye, and take out two matching pieces every 5 minutes. This way you will have a selection of colors from which to choose.
