Which adapter brackets fit to get the record experts mounted on the 70 series suspension base?
I don't believe anyone has a base for the suspension seats , I build my own

I didn’t read the entire thread so hopefully this isn’t repeated information.

I’d call Toby Pond in Portland. He is the US based rep for scheel. I had brackets made for my troopy in Bellevue Washington. Toby will know the source. It’s buried up in my build thread somewhere.

It always amazes me the money that folks spend on accessories; lights, winch, tires, etc etc and worry about the cost of seats where they spend a LOT of time. The scheel seats while expensive as hell have been a great investment in comfort.

Good luck.

I get what you are saying for sure, but those seats are definitely a big chunk of money. The quotes I was getting were around $5k for a pair plus shipping.

I realize to some on here that’s not a huge expense, but then again I’m pretty cheap lol. Im hoping with my accident settlement to pick up recaro or Scheels to help with comfort.

For those that don’t follow my build I will have to say seats are very nice, haven’t been able to drive them for any distance yet. I will have to say I can’t recommend them for a first gen Ute due to the seat bottoms being higher than factory seats and the seat backs being thicker that stock so you can’t slide them back far enough, or same as factory seats. That being said, I ordered a seat mount “kit” from Planted Brackets to custom the hight. I shortened the legs compared to the mounts Planted Brackets sells for the 75 series. After I get the modified mounts back from powder coating will see how these seats go sitting a little shorter.

The seats in my 2010 FJ Cruiser were crazy comfortable. I see them on ebay for $500 a pair all the time. When I replace mine, that's the sort of thing I'll be shooting for. There are so many good parted-out seats out there.

You can get Recaro to suspension base brackets from Japan if you know how to look. No modification needed. Same for bride seats as well. I am using modified bride bracket/rails on suspension base since some of the Bride seat models and Scheel-mann seats share the exact same width dimensions.

Having had both scheel-mann's and lots of Recaro's over the years, you can't go wrong with either. Both make driving a whole lot more enjoyable, especially long distance travel. You step out refreshed because the seat is supporting you so that your body can relax vs having to support itself. The scheel's do tend to be firmer for longer, meaning they take longer to "break in." A buddy with a van said that it took him over 20,000mi before his scheel's broke in to where they feel comfier off the bat like Recaro's do. Firmer isn't a bad thing, that creates the support. And that also doesn't mean that Recaro's aren't supportive. The Recaro's just feel a bit more inviting from the get-go. Cloth/velour is also more inviting than leatherette/leather, however it's a PITA with pet hair and not as easy to wipe clean. Leatherette isn't the best if you live/travel in high humidity areas; swamp a$$.

In my Cruiser are a set of Recaro Monaco's from Germany. Ironically they use a pair of Greiner (owns scheel-mann) brackets, which are no longer available.

I'd also recommend at least a driver side armrest for long distance travel. Will upgrade to the OneStone outer armrests soon.
Also to note a feature on some of either brand; my under-knee cushion pulls out to support under the legs. That makes more sense for the passenger since they don't have to operate pedals, but on a long cruise it can still add extra comfort.
Will see if I add aftermarket seat heaters to these. Probably not due to more limited winter travel.

BTW, plug for @Willis AKA Alex at FitGarage. He and Ossie are good people and know these rigs well.

Pickup. I don’t see it being an issue in anything else.
If the seat is same size/dimensions then I wouldn’t recommend them unless you are of a smaller stature. Still don’t know if I will keep mine, haven’t had much time in the seat yet.

You have one in a pickup? I have a customer wanting one for his and I don’t think it will be at a good angle in there.

They're super nice and super pricy

Back in the day I pulled a pair of sweet seats out of a late 80's GTI and mounted them in my 40 for under $200 at the time

Drove across the country and back in that GTI seat in total comfort....aside from the mud tires, 90 degree temps....and lack of radio except for an am/fm walkman that sqwauked about tornado warnings incessently from one end of nebraska to the other.

I'm getting ready to re-rebuild that 40 and pondering what will replace those old GTI seats

I'd love a pair of Scheels and I may go that route if I ever plant my backside in one.....but 5k buys a lot of iron
